Located within a purpose built complex on our 175 acre site, you'll find our awe-inspiring Lightwater Valley Falconry, which is home to over 50 amazing raptors including Owls, Falcons, Eagles and Hawks. There are also Rheas, Snakes and our inquisitive Ferrets too!Established to raise awareness of a wide selection of breath-taking birds, this facility offers a truly unique experience. As well as having the opportunity to see how these amazing birds are trained and handled and to learn about every aspect of their daily lives, visitors have the chance to watch dramatic flying shows every day (during theme park opening hours). In fact, you could even volunteer to pull on a gauntlet and allow our trained raptors to land on your arm or have your photo taken with one of the magnificent creatures.Lightwater Valley Falconry is open all year round, and in addition to the main Bird of Prey Centre also offers a unique range of falconry attractions including Hawk Walks and Owl Experiences.

I must disagree with the negative report. I have visited several times and found everything to be in tip top condition. The birds and reptiles are well cared for and clean, the staff are very accommodating. I do not know what the negative reviewer expected, but they have very little understanding of how these animals need to be cared for.... More

I organised an Owl Experience for my 10 yr old daughter, with Aspergers. And what a truly amazing experience it was. Chris, the Owls, and his team made it so informative, fun, interesting and took so much time to make sure my little one had the best experience and explained so much, and in so much detail. I could not... More

Birds a mess! Aviaries are disgusting and birds tied to metal blocks. Staff are rude and follow you around like you are going to steal something. Light Water valley needs to rethink their decision for having this centre open!

The title of the above review is actually an accurate description of the review itself and not the Birds of prey Centre! The birds are all in fantastic feather and healthy condition, the entire centre is maintained to a very high standard with all the animals being cleaned out daily and the staff are very welcoming and friendly and there... We happened across the Falconry centre at Light water Valley whilst spending a couple of the days in the dales. Unfortunately we misread the timing information on the website and arrived whilst the centre was closed but luckily we met Chris who invited us to take a look around the centre regardless and even gave us the opportunity to handle... We had a blast with the Owl Experience at Talon Falconry! We went in September where the waterpark was closed so we basically had the entire park to ourselves. Chris was extremely knowledgeable about the owls and shared a ton of his knowledge about these fascinating birds. We had a 11 months old with us and he thoroughly enjoyed the... More

Myself and my sister bought our Grandma the owl experience for her birthday, she's a crazy owl lady so we knew she'd enjoy it but Chris at the centre went above and beyond to make it memorable for her. It was throwing it down when we arrived so the first bit with the owls had to be done inside, this... More

This has got to be the best attraction at Lightwater Valley Theme Park! The birds and display were fantastic, the presentation was both professional and entertaining. On your next visit make sure you get there early for either of the two show times.

I am a Y6 teacher and took a group of children to Lightwater Valley to celebrate the end of their primary school years. A large proportion of the group visited the falconry and said it was their favourite part of their day. They loved the flying show, handling the birds and learning about them too. They particularly loved the Kookaburra... More

My husband and I used our gift voucher on 23rd August 2016 to visit Talon Falconry. On arrival we had a complementary coffee each and were made very welcome by Keith and Chris (Centre Manager). It was thrilling to handle and be 'up close' to first a tiny owl called Spud, next a bigger beautiful Tawny Owl, then, Grace, a... More
