If you looking forward to swim alongside with endless flow of rubbish that is floating in the river and sunbathe surrounded by scattered smashed beer bottles and wripped plastic bags, hygiene items and cigarette packs- then welcome to Valbona National Park! The cleanest underground waters and picturesque views have been polluted with human increments, and all the locals are interested in is to grab your money in restaurants and cafes. Shocking views! The local government does not seem to do anything about the rubbish- appoling and depressing sights!

The tour was excellent, and the tour guide was amazing, highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, we went through all the main landmarks in Tirana, and i know now the history behind each one, so interesting stories behind each landmark.

I was at the region a little early for lengthy hikes at high altitude, but can see why this is the gem of Albania.
just remember to bring cash (euros or lek) as there is no ATM in town and no establishment that accepts credit card
the nearest bank is at Bajram Currie, about 30 min away

The Valbona-Teth trail is quite crowded during the summer, and it’s quite an easy walk for experienced hikers.
The usual package suggested by organisers looks as follows:
Day 1: Ferry cruise in the morning, arrival in Valbona at around 1pm, free afternoon.
Day 2: Valbona-Teth trail
Day 3: Teth-Shkodra
For trained hikers it would be easily feasible to walk the trail in the afternoon of Day 1 (without spending the night in Valbona). If you chose the 3-days formula it may make sense to look on how to extend the hike by avoiding the most beaten path, but beware that the Albanian Alps are quite wild and the weather unpredictable.

While Teth - Valbone is a bit overtouristic and noisy; a hike to mount Rosit (Maia e Rosit) is a great hike. We had 8 hours to go up and down with short breaks (we're not sport hikers). Prepare yourself with enough food, hiking shoes and rain jackets, since the weather can change suddenly. The first part leads through some woods to a little hut (where you can have water) - seems to be only in summer. After that you go for the pass when it will begin to become very steep (no climbing at all). With every meter you'll see more from the mountains and down to Montenegro. Amazing views guaranteed.

We went two families with young children. The mountains, the valley, the river are the perfect combination (all at one place) to get out of the busy life of the capital city. We did a trip to the mountain and had a very nice lunch with traditional food. Really fun. Highly recommended

What’s the best touring company to hike? Or can we do it without a guide?

Hi, I’m looking for reliable and affordable car transfer from Podgorica Airport to Valbone in August and in the afternoon. Travel agencies usually charge too much for such services. I’d choose a bus but don’t want to split this trip into two days and take the bus to Shkodra, and then from Shkodra to Valbone (that only departs in the morning).
I’d be grateful for any help i.e. suggestions, contacts etc.
Hi!
Just a quick question, is hiking in the Accursed Mountains (Theth to Valbona) impossible in late December?
Thanks.

The 'accursed mountains' the name for a high elevation mountain range similar to the Alps or the Rocky Mountains. Thus, a considerable snow pack accumulates over the winter season. Therefore, it is unlikely that you will be able to hike these mountains in December.
