Carne Golf Links lies in magnificent unspoiled sand dunes overlooking Blacksod Bay and the wild Atlantic Ocean near Belmullet Co. Mayo in the west of Ireland. Carne was the last links course to be designed by the late Eddie Hackett and it is now believed by many who have played it to be his greatest challenge. The building of Carne has caused little disturbance to this wild and ancient landscape. Tees and greens occurred naturally and very little earth moving was involved in the course construction. Along the course are some breathtaking views over the Atlantic and the legendary islands of Inis Glóire and Inis Géidh

A hidden gem. Rated in the top 20 Irish courses. Links land masterpiece designed by Ireland's greatest golf course architect. Situated amongst towering sand dunes in the best old world untouched links style. So far not over run by too many golfers - but just wait!!!

I still say the back 9 and especially the last three holes are up there with the best of them. Unbelievable fast greens and great conditioned fairways coupled with superb scenery leave you in a sense of awe nearly. Love it - it will really test your skills.

It's a very nice course but not as it is rated. The dressing rooms had a bad odor to start off the day. The course is interesting with some blind shots and lots of up and downs. It's a good hike if you walk. Greens are very good. Fairways were ok. Just not as good as SandyHills, Castlerock or County... More

I really liked Carnes. It's very Irish links, but forgiving enough to be our starter course on a week golf journey. If you haven't played before, a caddy is must as some of the shots are blind. Our caddy was great. Everyone was very nice. They have a great, cozy bar with nice beers on tap and great seafood chowder.

Lucked and and had great weather for my round. I was with my wife for business trip and slipped out to play but did not bring my clubs so rented a set from the course. The rental clubs were the worst set of clubs I have ever used. Probably at least 8 years old and looked like they were used... More

A must in Ireland! Get ready to hit the dunes... We weren't ready and our thighs remind us this wonderful golf. We really enjoyed the golf course that deserves to be more well known

We played the Hackett course. There were a lot of blind shots that unless you were familiar with the course, you would have no clue where to hit your ball. There were some shots that it was hard to follow where your ball went if it went up and over a massive hill. The hills are not natural to the... More

This was our second stop on a 7 course tour of Ireland. This course has great potential with a great routing and some spectacular vistas of the Atlantic Ocean. The pro shop is sparsely staffed, and while the course has a driving range, you have to pick up your balls after you hit them. (Actually, this turned out to be... More

Booked this on a recommendation from the guy who holds the course record. Think he must have been having a laugh! Wet, windy and very challenging. But then that's why he's a pro and I'm a fair weather golfer. Seriously though it was fabulous. Amazing views and if I was a proper golfer I'd say something about how quickly the... More

We had booked all 27 holes and frankly from reviews and first hand accounts this was the one course we were hoping would be the surprise of our rota. That actually happened the day before up the road a bit. Alas Mother Nature was to blame as Carne was pretty much torn to bits by a record rainy winter and... More
