We arrived too late to catch a tour, which we weren't disappointed by. The best castle tour in Ireland is at Bunratty, so add that to your travel itinerary if you haven't yet. We enjoyed strolling the lovely grounds and browsing the gift shop.

The grounds and garden's are beautiful, well maintained and well worth visiting... the tour of the castle was utterly dire. Nothing interesting has ever happened in the castle and the rooms are all rather bland. We spent the time desperate to escape!

Some consider this not a 'proper castle' and more a mediaval estate, I found it to more than live up to castle status. It is a sight to behold, the entire grounds are amazing, including the 300+ year old tree watching over the castle.

Wonderful guide, plenty of interesting information and super emphatic guide lady. Could have stayed there listening to the details on the castle history for the whole day! Congrats to the tour lady. Really engaging – the castle also beautiful.

We visited the castle and grounds as part of our tour. It is a beautiful castle and gardens. Our guide was very knowledgeable and kept the tour on point. My regret was not having more time to spend here.

The castle is lovely. I recommend the guided tour inside the castle if you have a good level of english. The gardens around the castle are incredible mainly during the summer. A must visit if you are in Dublin.

How far is Malhide from Dublin? Is it easy to grab a cab or public transport ? Also, shall we devote a full day or half day to this?

a train northbound is the best way to get there unless more than 4 people it may be worth getting a taxi. Malahide is a nice place to spent an hour or two some nice pubs for a coffee
