There are a lot of ruins on this golf course. You have to ask permission to go on, watch for and be respectful of golfers, and be mindful of the space you are in. It is so beautiful though. The day was just perfect for...More

We visited the old Franciscan Friary just hours ago and it was quiet and beautiful, unlike downtown Adare. We were the only people at the site. Tour buses and such can't get into the parking lot so it's a real gem if you are driving....More

Just a short walk from the center of town. Lots of ruins in the area from the 12th and 13th century. We enjoyed an evening walk after dinner and could feel surrounded by ancient history and people. Very interesting and calming.

On the grounds of the Adare Estate, it is accessible to the walker from town as well as those staying on the property. The many largely intact ruins of the friary and castle/fortresses give you a good idea of what life might have been in...More

The third of Adare's friary ruins is awkwardly situated in the middle of a golf course, making it very difficult to visit. As with the inaccessible castle, access arrangements really need to be sorted out.
