We toured this jail with a guide who obviously is very passionate about history and the history of this jail in particular. She was entertaining and the tour included interesting stories about real people who had spent time in the jail. Highly recommended.

This is a true gem of a building, carefully restored by the local community and run by extremely interested people. The tour is informative and well laid out and we were able to see all the parts of the building as they were in the centuary before last. It also details the stories of people who were put in other... More

Wow what a great place to visit. Fantastic history tour of this museum and area. Lovely friendly coffee shop with smashing souvenirs. The Staff were so friendly helpful and made us feel so welcome. They couldn't do enough to help with suggestions of where to visit, eat and stay. A must place to stop and spend an hour, it is... More

I highly recommend this place. We had to wait for the ferry to Killimer for an hour and stopped by at the little museum. First we thought it was just good for killing some time but at the very end we missed the next ferry and it took us two hours to get through lots of very interesting history during... More

The Bridewell Museum is worth a visit, one of the last left open of the 8 Bridewells. You can have a guided tour, or go round on your own.It has a great insight of what it was really like to go to jail in those days and for something so minor. Even good for the children to see this.

A wonderfully restored courthouse and jail nestled in the small village of Tarbert. Well worth a visit if you're passing through.

Stopped by here on purpose to see it but we didn't have any cash - they wouldn't take any debit or credit cards... The lady at the desk didn't apologise about this or offer any suggestions. Couldn't find a bank machine in the town so had to leave without spending any money. They didn't have any sandwiches either so you... More

This is a highly recommended tour. You can enjoy photo opportunities on your own once you have all the information from the lovely guide. We had a great time pretending to be arrested and put before the judge. The statues are spooky lol Its very interesting and well worth a visit en route to the ferry at Tarbert. There's a... More

We did not have the Bridewell Courthouse tour this time as we have been before but did stop off on a beautiful sunny morning for tea and most gorgeous scones! Do take a moment to see the memorials very close by and the woodland walk if time permits. Wonderful friendly ladies in the tearoom, so much information given and exceptionally... More
