Bantry House and Garden is a stately home in southwest Ireland situated right on Bantry Bay with panoramic views of the bay and the caha mountains. The estate is owned by Egerton and Brigitte Shelswell-White and is managed by their daughter Sophie and her partner Josh. It has been in the family since the 1700s. The house contains original furniture and objects d'art. The garden is laid out over 7 terraces with a fountain, large wisteria circle and 100 steps leading up to the woodland. The house, garden and tearoom is open to the public daily from easter to october. The estate hosts weddings, music festivals and fairs. We have a separate review page for our B&B accommodation.

Well worth a visit. Gardens, though not extensive, are well-maintained. One of the two stables remains in good repair and self-guided visitation to the interior of the house is limited to the principal rooms on the ground floor due to the fact that it is...More

This historic manor house is a good stop on a rainy day (yes, it rains in Ireland!), Best if you can join a tour going through the house. Fascinating to learn about some of the restoration work going on and see the restorers in action...More

What a magical place - the location, the house and gardens, the guest accommodation and the welcoming owners - we couldn't have asked for more. As with most historic houses, Bantry has seen better days, but the family, which still owns, lives in and runs...More

It doesn't take long to see what there is to see. The gardens are very picture-worthy, but be aware you are not allowed to take pictures in the house. Nice view from the front of the house, and a cool staircase in the back.

Looking for tourist attractions in bantry and walked the gardens of this historic residence. The gardens in many areas were looking a bit tatty. The trees are excellent and can't comment on the house as didn't go in. Worth a visit but a little disappointing...More

I loved Bantry House and Gardens. The inside is so interesting with lots of information. There is an amazing dolls house. The tea room was nice and cosy with nice scones!
