Love this pub. Drink always spot on. Even on a cold wet Feb Thursday, character oozes from this place. Not first visit & hopefully not the last.

Expectations were obviously too high. Beer was nice, crowded, live music, too loud, too many tourists, I guess a must do when in Athlon but there are definitely cozier pubs around.

So this is certified by the Guinness Book of World records as the longest continually run bar in Europe - since 900 AD! It is a great place with great service! There are all kinds of cool things to look at inside that are really really old. The co-owner even helped us find the origin of our family with a... More

Very cool location, albeit a little cramped. They have a very spacious back patio where they had a local celebrity playing (pre-Paddy's Day). We ran into some folks from Idaho at the introduction of the bartenders. Enjoyed all of the first responder patches from around the world and the fishing gear.

The bar itself is a lovely spot. Real old style pub with great character. We moved out to the beer-garden area where a live band were setting up. The band were good but maybe a bit too Rock for my taste. :-)

Drop in here for a pint if you're in Athlone. It's a good old fashioned bar with a good atmosphere, good Guinness and a fire in winter.

We popped in here to have per-dinner drink & the barman (who we named Sean!) was so attentive and friendly. The lovely fire was so cosy. Gorgeous quaint pub :) loved it and he made a perfect Irish Coffee. Thank you

Second visit to this pub for me. I was there two years ago so when I decided to return to Ireland for a vacation I couldn't resist popping back in! It's history speaks for itself. Lovely warm pub with a wonderful bartender who happened to be the same man from two years ago. If you like history and a great... More
