This is reputed to be Ireland's oldest pub, set in the heart of Athlone right down on the Shannon. Full of character and often interesting people. Trad music a regular feature and often very good. Well worth a visit

This bar is famous ... for being old ! So don't expect posh and modern. Do expect a crowd, a roaring warm fire, trad music out the front and often additional music out the back ... We prefer the back and always enjoy a drink...More

We were mainly on a visit to an elderly relative in anursing home ,but made use of our limited time to walk around the town and walks near the shannon river .Splendid .

Hi Grainne, Thanks for your enquiry. On a Saturday night we do not hold reserve areas due to the size of the pub and the crowds that visit the pub on a Saturday night. We can hold a space up to around 6/7pm if that suited... More
