The oldest pub in Europe, by a mile! The bar tender also gave the entire pub a lesson on the history of whiskey that was fascinating. More fascinating than the tour guides at Kilbeggan, Jameson, or Guinness.

It’s always our first stop after we check into our hotel is Sean’s Bar. My partner says you can’t get a Guinness anywhere like it. It’s perfect 👌🏻

Went here on a Sunday evening. Nice crowd. Had not seen saw dust on a floor in years. Great range of beers and whiskey. Service also very good

What a place!! Registered as the oldest pub in Ireland. The bartender was a wealth of knowledge re: the history of Sean's. Warm & friendly atmosphere. If you are staying in Galway or Dublin it's well worth the train ride to visit.

A perfect mix of old style sawdust on the floor type of pub and a modern beergarden/private bar, Seans has been part of Athlone heritage for ever. Regulars, tourists, fishermen, river folk mix with great Guinness, music and craic. Friendly staff and their own whisky...More

What can I say, the pint of Guinness in Sean's Bar is simply amazing. I'm not into the whole "oldest pub" stuff. I just wandered in for a pint on a cold day. Was met by a fantastic open fire which made the place warm...More

My wife and I had a couple of drinks in this lovely quaint bar. The barman was very polite and friendly. He sat with a group and gave them the history of this old bar. Toilets were spotless and the bar has a lovely smoking...More

Hi Grainne, Thanks for your enquiry. On a Saturday night we do not hold reserve areas due to the size of the pub and the crowds that visit the pub on a Saturday night. We can hold a space up to around 6/7pm if that suited... More
