We had to visit Sean's Bar as it is recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records as being the oldest pub in Ireland. When we walked in we felt immediately at home. The fire was alight - it was a lovely sunny day but chilly so much appreciated - and the barman was very friendly and poured a great... More

My friends and I planned our route from Belfast to Galway specifically to stop at Sean's at the recommendation of an acquaintance. Our decision was validated when we got to spend an hour or so with a pint cozied up next to a fire and exploring the quirks of this gem. At one point, we were the only patrons in... More

We stopped by early one weeknight in March so it wasn't crowded and there wasn't live music but there were enough people to keep it interesting! Good drinks and so much history! Staff was friendly and we're glad we stopped by.

Pub was packed! Live music was awesome and staff was great at their jobs. Lots of local and import beers on tap.

The whole time we were there the bar man spent his time talking to a young couple from American who were loud and we found out there whole life history right... More

Expectations were obviously too high. Beer was nice, crowded, live music, too loud, too many tourists, I guess a must do when in Athlon but there are definitely cozier pubs around.

Love this pub. Drink always spot on. Even on a cold wet Feb Thursday, character oozes from this place. Not first visit & hopefully not the last.
