Stopped here on a boating trip down the Shannon and stayed 2 days in Athlone - SO much to do and see. The castle was a treat and the tour very modern.

Superb structure, exceptionally well maintained. The exhibits were unusual in that they were made out of recycled materials which added a nice unexpected edge. I thought the tour was quite intense, but extremely informative and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Great job and will recommend...More

It was our first stop on vacation and it was an okay place to visit. The staff was very nice, but there are better places to visit.

Spent a pleasant couple of hours exploring Athlone Castle and grounds. Very enlightening films and online participation screens and uniforms to try. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

This was a very well put together museum. We were disappointed to not see any of the actual castle though.

We were charged 20 euro for 3 children and 2 adults. A family in Ireland is often inclusive of 2 adults and 3 children due to larger family sizes, and to be honest this is a reasonable price as the museum is interesting but... More
