We visited this place when we stayed in athlone for couple of days. As the city is not that big, the castle is not that big and spectacular as any other places in ireland or in europe mainland. However the site is very well maintained,...More

I was very impressed with the quality of the presentation of the early history of Athlone and Iris, British wars. There is also a presentation of early 20th century citizens of Athlone. The castle itself is well restored and quite interesting.
