I found Parc National Des Grands Jardins to be incredibly beautiful and unspoiled by tourism and development. If this park were anywhere near a large city, it would be overrun with people. It's far enough from Quebec City ( which is not that big) that it's not totally packed. We went in early October and the leaves were close to... More

We visited the Grands Jardins and the Haute Gorges in this region. both were excellent with surprisingly different scenery. At the Grands Jardins we drove up to the Chute walk which was impressively remote.

Excellent snowshoeing in the winter. We did not encounter many people on the trails. We went off trail a lot and let the XC skiiers have their tracks. Perfect powder.

We enjoyed hiking the trails in the park, though I would not rate them as "easy" as the person in the park center described them (there was a language barrier). The woods were birch, aspen, and evergreens that we don't have in Texas, so it was very beautiful to us. My son took a dip in the lake and there... More

This park is about 2 hours from Quebec City, it seems less busy that Jacques Cartier, and in some ways is less picturesque with mainly younger trees (about 3-4m high), however there are well marked trails and great views from the top.

Unfortunately, we only had one day in the park, but it was awesome nonetheless. We hiked the Le Mont du Lac des Cygnes trail. I have never seen a better maintained hiking trail anywhere in my life. I (almost) felt guilty using it! It was graded the first 2 kilometers - you could have ridden an electric wheelchair up. The... More

We hiked Le Pioui trail. It was listed as "difficult" but I think that was more for length and some steep uphills -- nothing you can't do if you're in relatively good shape. It was gorgeous. It's listed as about a 10 km hike, but we ended up going up Mont du Lac des Cygnes as well, so I think... More

Been to Lac des Cygnes in the summer, the Fall and the last time, with snowshoes during the winter. The fall experience was very interesting with the small bushes which had turned red and seemed to have painted the scenery with crimson touches. The winter experience was something else. The wind at the top blows the snow so it is... More

This provincial park (in Quebec they are called parc national) is just norht of Baie St Paul in the mountainous region north of the St Lawrence. Fabulous views, lots of wildlife and and water sports - (kayak, canoe, fishing). There are several lakes in the park but swimming is cold. Great activities organized by the park - guided walks, evening... More
