Pleasant grounds for a family outing. Can get busy on a nice day at weekends. Efforts to make the grounds better for picnics etc seem to be working well. Sadly the franchise for the cafe seems to have changed and the great home baked scones...More

Great place for a long walk and a picnic. Lots of benches and quiet areas and grounds are well maintained. We went when there was a steam ralley on nearby so a little busy. Car park is very reasonable and I would probably pay more!

Promising but needs a lot doing to get it back to a good state. Investors needed or takeover needed by national trust. The grounds make for a good day walking especially when the suns out and there's always an event lined up to go to...More

The closest place it would seem would be Castle Donnington for accommodation although the closest town is Shardlow. I would consider Derby also because Kinch Bus operates their Skylink service between Derby & Leicester 20... More
