One of the best bird watching sites.
Dec. 2019
Batbatan Island in Culasi, Antique Province is one of the best bird watching sites where you can see several species of wild birds up close and personal. They are being left alone due to a local animistic belief that harming them may bring some bad luck. The white beaches-dotted island is also home to a colony of flying foxes.

I was here for a very specific reason. I was here not to do sightseeing but having arrived here, you cannot help but do just that. This is the 2nd of 3 islands in Culasi. Mararison being the more popular and closest to the mainland. Batbatan has a shifting sandbar and the water is still very clean. There are not any developed resorts here yet at least not one that is advertised (again I was here for a different reason altogether). The townspeople are very friendly and cooperative. They were quite helpful with what I was trying to do. Prepare yourself though for about 1 1/2 hour boat ride and for the choppy waves at times. Ensure that you have put on plenty of sunblock as this can give you a sever sunburn on an uncovered boat (most of the boats for rent are uncovered). If you like the quiet and not such a commercialized beach, this is the place to go. Bring a pack lunch too to save you time in finding a place to eat. There are not very many places to eat right in the entrance into town.

This island is the second of the tree islands of culasi, antique..It is a 1-hour boat ride from the mainland..Summer is the best time to go there..The island is unspoiled and clean..with clear waters and plenty of starfishes to enjoy..Adventure would be funnier if you climb rocks and walk on the sand barefooted.. You can also do snorkeling and diving..There are no cottages there but you can camp there overnight.
