Told to go here & see the Dartford Warblers but no sign. However plenty of ducks, deer etc viewed from the bird hide on the coast. Car park almost full but where were all the people? The forest tracks were almost empty. Never seen so much yellow with the gorse all in bloom.

You reach this RSPB reserve through beautiful National Trust land and Dorset countryside. The beauty is amazing - so many varied landscapes (sea, beach, heath, reeds). Walking around for a few hours transports you and lifts your spirits. Profuse birds song. Sika deer. And other wildlife. Cafe with good value food and drinks. Picinic areas around the reserve.

Finding the RSPB reserve is 'fun' - no signs off the main road and only one at 1.2 miles from the car park (otherwise 5*). BUT a very friendly greeting, no charge except the car park, free map and a very clean and modern cafe & toilets gave a great first impression. The reserve is in two halves - Shipstal... More

If you want to walk in beautiful surroundings, watch for birds and sika deer and generally get close to nature, Arne is just the job. There are walks of varying length, all colour-coded and well signposted. We got some excellent tips from the enthusiastic and knowledgeable guy at the welcome hut in the car park. Price (for the car, not... More

This is a fantastic reserve with a wide variety of habitats and many species of birds. All six native reptiles are found here but you would be lucky to see any (we didn't). There is a visitor centre with refreshments available and staffed by friendly and knowledgeable wardens. The various trails are well marked and lead you to different parts... More

We hadn't visited this place before so on the recommendation of friends, decided to go. We have a dog and it was well advertised that dogs were welcome but must be kept on a lead. We were met by one of the volunteers and given a map of the place which shows three walks. They each took different times to... More

This is tucked away from ghetto normal rat run of roads. It is accessed by a single track with passing places BUT it is well worth the drive! The road you take has NO Signage! But keep the faith with the SATNAV and for one car you will be fine! Good parking, friendly welcome at the RSPB Hut and a map... More
