Boat Rental Highlight of the Trip
Jun. 2019 • Family
I highly recommend stopping here. They have every type of water gear imaginable and a variety of boat rentals. We rented a boat which was the highlight of our trip. Don't bother coming to this area if you're not going to get out on the water and boat around. The area and the lake houses are beautiful. SWS was helpful and everything ran smoothly. There are lots of fun pop up shops and a great bakery in the marina area as well.

Fantastic Instructors
Aug. 2018 • Family
My family booked lessons with SWS at Deerhurst. The instructors were extremely talented, helpful and patient. Our 11 year old son learned to slalom on one ski and to wake board. Our 9 year old daughter leaned to get up on 2 skiis and ski around the lake. This was all possible because of the professionalism of the SMS staff. Special shout out to Blake, Stella and Jack.

Great waterski show at cleveland house
Aug. 2018 • Family
Took our 3 daughters to see the show at cleveland house which starts at 730pm..great location for the show. Great entertainment throughout with lots of interaction from skiers. We sat at end of dock which had great views of the whole show. Only advice I would give in regards to food. If you are looking to eat before the show and want to eat at pizza pie...show up early...like 430pm early. We were told to show up at 6pm and when we got there it was well over an hour wait. We ended up eating in the dining hall which to be honest was nicer, more selection and very well priced.

Dangerously Irresponsible Company and Drivers
Aug. 2017 • Business
On August 16, the company I worked for hired Summer Water Sports (SWS) to drive 25 of us on lake Joseph to and from a restaurant between, departing at 7pm and 10pm.

We almost did not make it back to our resort that night.

To start with, we booked 5 boats for the night. After the restaurant we were told there were only 4 boats now because one didn't have the proper lights for night, so it was being left behind at the restaurant. So that's annoying.

Anyways, all 5 SWS drivers were no older than 18-19 years old, and feeling uneasy, I specifically asked the driver of boat #3 how well she and the others knew the lake. To which she responded that they all knew the lakes like the back of their heads. I then asked how many times they have driven large groups like ours like this at night, to which she said about 2-3 times this summer and that her boss doesn't say no to opportunities.

All 4 boats take off at around 10:10-10:15pm, all in a row behind one another. I look at the dash and we are going a little over 30 MPH at night. That's alright, because the SWS drivers grew up on this lake and know it like the back of their heads.

So very wrong.

Next thing you know, our boat (#3) comes to an abrupt, completely stop. It all happened to fast. I turn my head right, and all I see is the front of boat #4 coming straight for us at full speed. It’s pitch black outside, but boat #4 was so close that we could actually see it as the driver franticly turned the boat right and it NEARLY missed us! Had the driver of boat #4 not acted quickly, it would have killed and/or caused life-altering injuries to every single of us in boat #3.

Phew, that was close for boat #3 & #4. Now you’re probably wondering what happened to boat #1 and #2?

Well boat #1 went over the side of a rock and broke the propeller completely. Boat #2 crashed directly into the rock that was *above* water, coming to a crashing halt and throwing everyone on board forwards. Water was coming in and gas was leaking everywhere. Okay, now you’re probably thinking “Woah, that’s scary! I hope these boats have paddles, life-jackets and a water-proof flashlight now that they’re stranded in the dark because that’s what’s legally supposed to be in every boat”

So very wrong, again.

The boat I was in (#3) did NOT have any paddles or a flashlight. Boat #4 had 1 paddle and no flashlight. I don’t know which boat it was but in one of the two boats (#1 or #2) that hit the rock, one of them had NO life-jackets onboard and both had no flashlights. In fact, I never saw a damn life-jacket in boat #3, either. All the SWS drivers were using their cell phones as flash-lights, because cell phones and water/lake go so well together.

Anyways, our driver of boats #3 calls her supervisor immediately after boat #4 nearly killed us all and after seeing boat #2 crashed into a rock. Not the cops but her supervisor – priorities. We hear her say that she has no idea where she is on the lake, DESPITE telling us 10-15 minutes ago they knew the lake like the back of their heads.

We sat stranded for almost 45 minutes with NO ONE ever showing up, not even their supervisor, to help. The SWS drivers managed to put all 25 of us into boats #3 and #4, at way over capacity, and we boated back slowly with both boats engines smoking up a storm behind us.

The original driver of boat #4, is now driving boat #3 on our way back to the resort, he said if it were up to him they would have driven slower. He admitted they were going too fast.

We are all counting our blessings that no serious injuries occurred that night. We are very, very lucky, but others may not be if they go with SWS. This rock was gaping out of the water. It was not subtle and could not be missed in daylight. The SWS drivers did not know their surroundings and drove much too fast at night. They were disorganized and didn’t know what to do.

Worse of all, the Summer Water Sports company is taking no responsibility for what happened and cares more about their bottom line. If you value your life, your family’s life, your friends life, please do not go with Summer Water Sports, they’re only in it for themselves.

Snowmobile Rental
Feb. 2017 • Couples
We rented a 2 seater snowmobile on Feb 11th. They dropped the snowmobile off at the cottage and picked it up. They also brought down helmets and snow pants for us to rent. They were beyond helpful and we will definitely be renting from them again next year.

If you are staying at the Marriott and want a less expensive boat rental with the same price and quality go here!
Aug. 2016 • Family
This is a great place to rent just about anything on the water. They are courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. We rented a boat for four hours and it came to $200 less than the Marriott and included another hour in this price! Well worth the five minute walk!

Great with our kids!

The staff went above and beyond to encourage our son to try water-skiing; they had him up and around the lake in one lesson.

Waterpark at Clevelands House Resort was great!
Jul. 2016 • Family
Just to be clear, we only did admission to the waterpark and watched the water ski show on a Monday evening. The inflatable water park was a lot of fun for our 10 and 13 year old active boys and for us as a family. The beach wasn't that crowded for a Monday in July and it provided a day of adventure for all of us. I also appreciated being able to bring out a paddleboard and kayaks. Even though we weren't staying at the resort, we were included in the beach volleyball game. I gave it four stars because there were a few things that needed fixing on the inflatable water toys, but nothing that seemed dangerous. All in all, a great outing for us!
