This is a great place to visit - plenty to see and some beautiful old locomotives, plus all sorts of train memorabilia from over the years. Love going inside the old trains and imagining what they would have been like when in use. Very educational for kids too, with displays and all sorts of things. There are also miniature train... Used our vouchers to get 25 per cent discount to enter the museum. Not many steam engines but loads of history of the men and the women that followed of the opening up of S.A. There is a model railway inside that keeps you looking for items posted and a mini train that goes round the perimeter of the museum..Also some... More

Although a train nut, this museum is a must see for anyone as it has an enormous range of locomotives to view and clamber over. The site is very well maintained with all exhibits clearly signposted and marked. The self guided tour is well priced at $12 per adult and includes access to working train ride.

You can spend many hours here because many of the trains are open to hop on and explore. I was surprised at how many there are and they are very big. Families can ride on the small replicas and loose themselves around the displays of memorabilia. Close to many other attractions in the area.

Another amazing Museum located in Adelaide's Historic Port Adelaide. With its huge collection of locomotives and rollingstock, you could be there for a couple of days.

We spent a few hours at the National Railway Museum in Adelaide a few weeks ago and it was a lot of fun. Carriages you can walk through, the mini-train ride and lots of good train related information in the museum. Neat to see the old cars refurbished and well cared for, also nice to see Thomas the Tank Engine,... More

This is a wonderful museum. Lots of engines and carriages to explore and heaps of hands on exhibits. Train rides for the young and young at heart. The model railway is brilliant. Great family fun for the day.

The Museum has done a great job with set out of displays, signage, train rides and examples of past trains. A great trip down memory lane. Mostly indoors for inclement weather, mini train ride for young and old.

Anything to do with trains and I'm in! So of course I have enjoyed the two visits I have made. Please remember this is run mainly by volunteers, so its not as 'polished' as some museums. But then the entrance fee is not likely to break the bank either. There are static displays of historic and interesting engines and carriages,... More
