Our "Safari" is a 6 hour drive where it's possible to see Kodiak Wildlife in their natural habitat; Brown Bear, Sitka Deer, Red Fox, Nesting Bald Eagle, Buffalo, Whale, Sea Otter, many species of Bird, and the many type of Salmon that arrive throughout our summer here on Kodiak Island. Our "Safari" is approximately 80 miles round trip. Beach walks, and photo stops are along the way as we travel from the North Side, to the South Side, all the way out to the end of the island. Enjoy a light lunch while watching the "breathtaking" views at the Pacific Ocean or Pasagshak Bay. We are first aid and CPR certified, and offer the visitor the option of a morning or evening tour. Learn about Tsunamis, and historical facts as we also view wildlife. "Life is an adventure, why not start here, with Kodiak Island Van Tours."

Being late October, we had little expectations on this side trip before heading to Fairbanks to witness the northern lights. When we first contacted Janet she was very honest with us and let us know that being late Oct, our chances at spotting bears would be on the lower side. Nevertheless, Janet went above and beyond looking for the almighty... More

This is a fabulous tour and we had an amazing time. I was so excited when Janet found a spot where a Kodiak mum and her two cubs were, a real highlight of our holiday in Alaska. Janet is very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about anything Kodiak, the whole tour was just fantastic. The lunch Janet provided was scrumptious, an... More

Janet picked us up at our hotel right on time. We were on the hunt for Kodiak bear in no time. While searching, on a lake shore we saw numerous Bald Eagles and salmon jumping out of the water. Janet's enthusiasm for fauna and flora was infectious. She pointed out Sitka spruce, cotton grass, fireweed, rose hip bush and pootchki.... More

Janet did a fantastic job of showing us Kodiak. She told us about the island, history, plants, animals etc. She went out of her way to be sure we saw the Kodiak bears. How exciting to see a mother with her two cubs! She also took us to a rainforest and we walked to a beautiful waterfall. Definitely saw parts... More

Enjoyable ½ day tour with Janet. Within 15 minutes of getting in her vehicle, we were standing watching a Kodiak bear sauntering through a small river and catching fish. Saw several eagles and other wildlife. Janet is very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting and enjoyable despite less than desirable weather conditions.

I had thought about renting a car to explore Kodiak myself but I am so glad I spent the day with Janet. She is knowledgeable and fun. We had a generous lunch at a beach. I learned a lot about Kodiak and Alaska. I am particularly grateful that Janet worked overtime to show us bears! Janet is an enthusiastic ambassador... More

We loved our day with Janet! She drove the island sharing history, personal stories and the science of the different areas! Janet is extremely knowledgable about the area, it's history and the animals. She brought us a wonderful lunch and even took us out during the evening to see a mother bear and two cubs!! This is a great way... More

What an amazing tour!!! If you visit Kodiak, you must see Janet!!! We travelled from Fairbanks, to Denali wildlife preserve, to Anchorage searching for bears, but it wasn't until our first 30 mins on Janet's tour when we saw our first bear. Janet's passion for wildlife and the island shines through when she shares her knowledge of the island and... More

My husband and I took an early flight to Kodiak and Janet picked us up at our hotel. The day was cool, rainy and fraught with road construction but Janet gave us a great tour in spite of that. She knew just where to see Kodiak bear, bald eagles and deer and very informative about the history and ecology of... More
