We happened upon this little gem from the advice of a friend. There did not seem to be a lot of visitors which was nice because we had one on one attention from one of the workers there. She spent a great amount of time...More

I took my students to the Touch tank and they loved it. They have been inspired to learn more about science and become scientists. :-) thanks to the wonderful staff at the Kodiak Laboratory and Touch tank!

The exhibits are extremely helpful in understanding the life cycle of the various fish so important to the Alaskan economy - such as the several salmon species. Beautiful columnar aquarium. There's a fine touching pool as well.

This state aquarium has a large viewing tank and numerous exhibits. The part the kids will love is the touch tank. We enjoyed seeing the children's faces as they held various sea creatures. We took a taxi from the ship, but we walked back to...More

This is not far from town and is a great experience. You can learn a great deal about the fishing industry and also try the touch tank!! The water is cold but it is really interesting.

If you are expecting a huge aquarium, this is not the place. It's decent size though and you can see a representative sample of local sea life. The touch tank had lots of squishy things in it that kids were enjoying. The octopus was hiding...More

The centerpiece is a cylindrical tank in a two story atrium full of lots of sea creatures, some quite large. With kids you could focus on the aquarium and touch tank but there are also some very interesting exhibits about changing conditions, sealife and fishing....More

It's on Near Island so it's walkable from Downtown but it would probably take 45mins one way. You're better off taking a taxi at least one way.
