With two teens we did a 4 day kayak/camp trip with Coast Mountain Expeditions. A wonderful trip with excellent guides, delicious, healthy food and good equipment that is well maintained. Coast Mountain Expeditions has loads of experience putting on these trips and tremendous knowledge of the region. Highly recommend this company if you want a safe, fun and enjoyable kayak experience.

If you want to physically challenge yourself, learn a lot about our natural world and the Discovery Islands, and be fed the most amazing food while doing it, this is a trip for you! I was taught kayak skills before I left the dock and felt safe in the hands of two very experienced guides - Rachel and Albi. I enjoyed learning all about sea life, moons, and minks! They were able to plan this trip to fit perfectly with the currents and tides and we were wowed with a coastal tidal pool extravaganza. The Read Island lodge was an added bonus - tranquil, rustic, and of course the best cuisine by Lannie. Finally, a huge thanks to Ralph who capped off our week-long trip with a whale watching finish! I can't wait to come back. Thank you so much for making this an everlasting memory.

The Coast Mountain Expedition kayak trip up the stunning landscape of Bute Inlet was hands-down the best multi-day kayaking trip we have ever experienced. Our guides Anthony and Liam were not only highly professional, extremely competent in wilderness and water skills, and very knowledgeable about local First Nations history, birds, plants, marine life etc --- they were also highly attentive to every individual on our trip. Truly inspiring hosts. The extraordinary quality of food on this trip is hard to capture. An enormous variety, with most meals featuring multiple courses. Dinners are themed - Indian, Mexican, Middle Eastern etc. Bread and other baked goods all homemade. Plenty of fresh veg and fruit, much of it grown organically and prepared at the site by the guides. The first and last nights at the magical Read Island lodge are a treat (featuring Lannie's incredible food), and the transport from Quadra to Read Island includes Ralph's histories of the area and whatever viewing of whales he can squeeze in. Albert's communications at all points of the trip planning were prompt and patient. And oh yes, the kayaking itself is incredible ... We're going back.

If I could give 10 stars I would. Just returned from the Bute Inlet Expedition, completed with a group of friends. While I had some concerns about my abilities before the trip, those all disappeared thanks to the expert care of CME. From the moment we were picked up from the dock on Quadra Island to our return every aspect was incredible. The CME team was top-notch. Our guides Anthony and Liam worked tirelessly from dawn to dusk to ensure every participant was well cared for. The food they prepared was delicious, nutritious, inspiring. They provided confident leadership and great direction, with cheerful and friendly personalities. They went above and beyond consistently. The experience itself on Bute Inlet was spectacular. Back at the lodge we enjoyed meeting the team that worked tirelessly for us. Special thanks to Lannie for her incredible culinary skills - she managed to address all of our many dietary restrictions with creative and delicious meals, both at the lodge and out in the field. Also thanks to Ralph, Albert, Kate, and the many others who helped make this a special memory. We will return!

Very efficient communication before the trip and appropriate COVID regulations in place. Had a great experience with Anthony on the day who ensured the trip accommodated our experience and physical level. Extensive knowledge of the narrows and all the extensive sea and wildlife in a stunning area (the sun helped!). Had a great day and thoroughly recommend. Would love to go on a multi-day expedition.
