I hired the North Barn for mine and my "other half's" birthday party this weekend. Stunning location and building. It is a great alternative to the mass produced hotels and forced event type places. You just hire the "shell" of the building, so it leaves you free to do your own thing. Resources are limited, like no catering facilities, but... More

After a birthday lunch, decided we needed a quiet zone to sit down and reflect on life. Aylesford Priory, or The Friars, is the perfect spot, right alongside the upper reaches of the River Medway, away from noise and pollution. Enjoyed the peace, and the walk through the Peace Garden with its careful planting, cared for by the friars themselves.

This quiet attraction is perfect for a short, leisurely afternoon stroll. It's accessible for wheelchairs and buggies. Although there isn't any play equipment for children, there is a well-populated duck pond so make sure you take some bread, but watch out for the Canada geese. After your stroll, the tea room serves good coffee, cakes and sandwiches. You can also... More

We always enjoy a trip to the Friars for its wonderfully calm and relaxed atmosphere. We've been visiting the place for many years. We have visited just to walk around the Silent Garden, the Prayer Walk and more recently the Farmers' market. We have visited when they had their Summer Fayre and also for no reason at all. We have... More

We visited here on a warm afternoon and had a lovely stroll around the gardens, as well as inside the chapels. Tranquil, welcoming and beautiful. Wonderful to see such a historical place kept so well.

I visited the Friars this week and had wonderful day out, it was lovely and peaceful as not to many people around. The lake was interesting with 3 baby Mallard ducklings probably only day old and 5 baby Goslings, which came straight to us for food, which we felt guilty we hadn't took any with us for them, the parents... Even not religious this is still a great place to visit as a unique place of huge historical interest. Still an active Friary and there are lots of activities going on like pottery etc The buildings and architecture are stunning.
