At first you'll feel there's not a lot to see but park the car in the large car park. Make sure you pack drinks and a picnic and stroll along the spit. In goes into the woods for a bit and there's a path way along each side so you can do a circuit.

You have view of both the sheltered cove and the waterway to Vancouver Island. The waters have a collection of boats, Kiacks and canoes. People fishing, ferry's making crossings to provide relaxing views and activity.

There are toilets and rubbish bins and a very large field where you can play ball or fly kites.

I was looking for a safe place to ocean kayak. Tides and currents are new to me. This was perfect. Beautiful setting, protected, and you can go a long way hugging the shore, and towards Harriet Bay. The beach itself was popular for families, swimming, or admiring the driftwood filled beach. One side of the spit faces inward towards the bay, and the other side overlooks the mainland towards Desolation Sound. Gorgeous, and a great way to spend a day on Quadra Island.

Imagine a perfect sunny day. The ocean is calm, looking like glass. You are on an island spit, surrounded by distant mainland mountains. Just as you are trying to take in all this beauty, a humpback whale is spotted just off shore, cruising down the coast. It's so quiet, one is able to hear the regular blows, and see the spouts and tail of this huge creature.
This was our experience at Rebecca Spit Marine Park.
Follow this surreal experience with an easy hike around the spit, and you have pretty much a perfect morning.

It has gotten too busy. No parking, choking on dust from constant traffic on the gravel road along the beach. Dusty, noisy with traffic and boat generators. Leaking septic systems from the waterfront homes and boats discharging sewage into the water make it unsafe for swimming.

A warning to those visiting. I am pretty sure that my sister and daughter contracted an E. coli infection from swimming in the inner bay attached to Rebecca spit. There are many boats anchored in the area as well as leaking septic from homes nearby. It makes this area completely unsafe for swimming. They got sick a week and a half ago and are still recovering.

Wow, what a beautiful haven! My family and I walked the beaches at Rebecca Spit Marine Provincial Park and so content. We were able to see so many different marine species along the way. We packed a lunch and sat at one of the many picnic tables available. The breeze was calming and the sun shining. We couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon.

Totally gorgeous area. It takes your breath away. Lovely windswept beaches with lots of driftwood and views over to other islands. Good to kayak and great for anchoring in your cruising boat. Nice walks and good place for a picnic.

If you do the ferry ride from Campbell River to Quadra Island, then a must do is visiting Rebecca Spit Marine Provincial Park, particularly on a nice day.

This area was used as a pioneer gathering area for local communities. In 1959, the Clandenning Family “graciously” donated the area as a public park.

The twenty minute walk from the parking lot to the end of the Spit is pleasant and emotionally invigorating. You may even spot the BC ferry that goes between Quadra and Cortes Islands.

On the calmer bay side where boats are moored you can spot clams along the tidal edge. We thoroughly enjoyed our short visit to this unique area.

It’s a lovely park with great water access and views. There are flat paths and a campground. One of the highlights of Quadra Island. There is a nearby bike shop - Island Cycles with rentals and a kayak rental next door.
