Unfortunately the highway runs right overtop of the falls, which spoils a bit of the natural ambience. Shame because this is still a pretty series of cascades and is quite accessible on foot. Running right through the quartz bedrock of the La Cloche Range makes them quite distinctive from the typical granite geology of Northern Ontario. The old mill ruins add a bit of charm to the area as well.

The Whitefish Falls are visible from Highway 6. The Falls cascade down a total of about 30 feet. Pull off the highway onto the shoulder before or after the Whitefish Falls river. Then on the shoulder on the North side of the highway, carefully walk out to the center of that bridge for the best accessible view and photograph. There are ruins of a small power plant (or mill?) to the South (right) side of the Falls. I don't see anyway to get a much better photo unless you have a boat to row up to the base of the falls. There are two bridges over the top of the falls. If you can get there you could photograph down on the falls (but that probably will not be a better photo).

Charlton Lake Camp was a wonderful experience with peace and quiet. Deer, porcupines etc. abound. We returned to nature and found ourselves totally relaxed. The place is clean and well cared for. A great experience overall!

Beautiful white quartz mountains with stunning vistas from the Willisville Road overlooking the area. So different from the granite formations surrounding the area.

It's a quick little walk but it is on very smooth rocks so have good walking shoes. Might be harder for the very young and also the elderly if not steady on their feet. Very nice view and worth the short walk.

The views are fantastic. The cabins are a home away from home! Dan and Lisa are great hosts, the best!
