Very interesting place where you can get soviet feeling. I liked the most secret tunnel and visiting abandoned utility room with some authentic objects.Impressive new radiolocator. And also ther was cool and knowledgeable guide who knows a lot of interesting facts about times when old radiolocator was working.

Tours are available, but you must book ahead. The radio telescope site is fenced and locked normally. We emailed in advance and they accommodated our preferred time. Contact information is on their website. They opened the gate, and once we arrived, locked it behind us. In a case of good luck, a couple arrived on bike at the same time... More

Radiolocator was impressive. However we didn't manage to get close to it. Abandoned village near the locator was spooky. But now all the territory is fenced.

A strange feeling when we walked around here. There is also a abandon "city" very close. When you turn of the road to Kolka from ventspils there is a sign of the astronomy but no information of the city. There was no sign but there was houses, probably built in the 50 or 60:s. If you like spooky places you... More

If you want to feel small and insignificant definitely come to this place. This is something phenomenal that man has created. Even more interesting it is that it's all being renovated and modernized. The tunnel ... a sense of diversity - a little scary and interesting. And for those who love nature - Awesome views all around.

The place is somehow creepy as you are driving past old buildings without windows or even walls. Eventually you get to the telescope which is used till now, but as there are some reconstruction going on tours are not being held till the spring of 2015. But you can hang around and take photos.

I heard of this place, and we drove out to investigate. The center was not open for visitors, but you could drive around, take photos, and visit the sites. This was a secret Cold War llistening post, and there are 5 story abandoned apartment buildings on the site, which look like they have been stripped of anything useful. We did... More
