This is yet another site which I am amazed that you do not yet have a listing for!!!! It is a 10th c. Byzantine Monastery with the "remains" of "Holy Luke"., a great healer of the 10th c. which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and etc., etc. When you list it on your site, I will write a review of a visit here (which was astounding!!)

We stopped here "on our way" somewhere else. So beautiful, peaceful and not crowded. The experience is atmospheric. History, gorgeous architecture, art (mosaics) and religion. The setting is so beautiful. Well worth a trip to Greece to experience Hosios Loukas and nothing else. We loved...More

If you’re taking a trip to Delphi from Athens do add a visit to this Byzantine gem en route. Perched on the side of Mount Helikon, & overlooking a verdant valley of olive trees & cedars, this monastery is a beautiful example Byzantine architecture. Quiet,...More

I have seen mosaics in Famous museums in Tunisia, Antakya, Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, many sites in Italy, however, the mosaics in this active monastery of five monks s truly remarkable. If there is one place you choose to visit for seeing Byzantine mosaics make...More

The monastery dates back to the 11th century, and owes its existence to a hermit - “Holy Luke” - whose remains are buried in the crypt. The monastery is said to be one of the finest examples of Byzantine architecture and is, accordingly, on the...More

Many of the tours come here on their way to Delphi. We hired a car and I am so glad we stopped here. Superb Byzantine monastery with wall paintings. Also a small museum. Fantastic setting. A place to eat, a small shop. We spent over...More

Magical restored monastery that literally takes you on a historical walk back to the 10th century. This is a must visit!

The Osios Loukas Monastery is located on the slopes of Mount Helicon, near the small town of Distomo, which is a short driving distance from the famous town of Delphi. Entry is rather cheap, only about 4 euros, and you get to see quite a...More

Absolutely beautiful monastery complex, definitely worth visiting if you are in the Delphi/Arachova area! The parking lot is tiny though, and fills up with tour busses. I would recommend getting there first thing in the morning if you can, the day we visited there were...More

While staying in Delphi, we happened to be there on a Holiday, when other sites were closed. Hotel staff recommended a visit to a nearby St. Lukas Monastery. What a treat! It is an active Monastery, run by the monks, with well preserved Byzantine style...More

There is a small gift shop with info about the monastery. I don't think it necessary.
