We visited in June & stayed at a resort 2 min walk away... we found it to be quite secluded and very peaceful. I can imagine further south would be a very popular tourist hotspot, but we certainly didn't encounter this. Very lovely place.

One of the cleanest beaches I've come across in Thailand. Could easily find a patch of sand either in the shade or sun, which ever you prefer. Safe enough to leave your stuff whilst plunging into the beautiful ocean. Gentle breeze, white (some places black) sand, clear water, beautiful spot to relax an morning or afternoon away. Amazing sunsets, just... More

Some people says that in Khao Lak are many tourists. We stay about one week opposite Nang Thong Beach and I must say - it´s quiet and great place for relax. After see many beaches in Thailand - this is not the best or nicest, but nobody making noise, no noisy bars, no trip sellers... you can take beach-bed for... More

Beach is pretty and interesting due to the rocks. Not a white sandy beach, but more rough and has character. Sunset is truly beautiful and in the evening, people send lanterns to the sky. Simple beach with no crowds.

Stayed in the Centara Sea View Resort on Nang Thong beach in Khao Lak. You can walk for miles along it with various hotel and beach bar/restaurants to stop off at along the way. Our favourite was Peters Bar just past the Sands Hotel. Great Thai Food and drinks and take a swim in the sea then watch the sunset

Nang Thong Beach (around the Sands) is not the nicest beach in Khao Lak. There are better options such as White sand beach. Lacks a bit in tourist infrastruture,

Water was a little rough in October but great to walk. Shells, pine trees and palms and no one around.

Just to advise that Coconuts (next to and part of The Suwan Palm Resort) has now reopened on Nang Thong Beach after extensive renovations. A huge bar and lots of tables and chairs for food and drink (also has massage tables). They have a happy hour with cheap cocktails every day from 5-6pm. I liked this beach as it wasn't busy... although it was off (monsoon) season so probably isn't always so quite.... the sea can be a little rough (maybe due to monsoon season) so care should be taken especially if not a good swimmer...great walking beach... although heart wrenching to see the photos on a tree of some of those lost...
