Llantrisant’s magnificent Guildhall is a unique visitors' and activity centre set in the heart of an ancient hilltop town. The Guildhall at Llantrisant is a restored 14th century building that stands proudly on the crest of a hill alongside the romantic, ruined splendour of a ancient castle. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and scenery, the Grade II listed building provides a wealth of activities. As a heritage and visitors’ centre it tells the remarkable story of an historic Welsh town which has witnessed a colourful past unlike any other. Today it also provides a unique venue for weddings, high-end events, private and corporate hire.

This was a lovely find! We saw the open sign and as it was raining we decided to go in, so glad we did. It is a very interesting little museum with friendly staff, and a cosy tea room downstairs. There is also a film about the town which was very nicely made. We learned loads about the history of Llantrisant. It is right next to the scant remains of the castle too, if you want quick walk around the outside (the castle is fenced of).

You must visit Llantrisant Guildhall because you can learn all about the history of Llantrisant! You can dress up in medieval clothing like dresses and you can play a super fun castle game puzzle. We had to complete the inside and outside challenges which was exciting! We had stickers too from Mr Lamb. We learnt all about The Black Army and Dr William Price. Did you know that you can see the ancient castle ruins from the Guildhall? You can also see the old artefacts which are interesting. There is a lovely, dog friendly tea room where can you enjoy scrumptious cakes! You must visit as soon as possible! From Year 3 at Tonysguboriau Primary School

This is a must see place for anyone visiting the Vale of Glamorgan area. Small, but full of history, artifacts, pictures, a video presentation that isn't too long, a very helpful and friendly guide on hand, and a lovely cosy tea room below. Dog friendly. People friendly. Just be aware of opening days and hours.

A warm welcome from the volunteer staff here, who looked after us as a booked party of 18. The Guildhall is a real treasure trove of history and is well worth a visit on the dates they are usually open. Much to look at, an excellent short video to watch, a real little gem. Visit this on one of the many walking trails in the area, or combine with a trip to the Royal Mint.

A fabulous and accessible location for the beautiful medieval Guildhall which displays so much history for this special hilltop town. I was very fortunate to attend an evening with local historian Dean Powell who gave a fascinating insight into one of Llantrisant’s most famous character- Dr William Price. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening with the audience hanging on to every word by Dean who was the perfect, humorous host.
I also attended with 1st Llantrisant Brownies when the Hall was used by the RCT Ramblers for an event. The Archers Hall(lower floor) was a perfect location for entertaining the Brownies with a Balloon workshop, face painting, puzzles, dressing up- a pop up food tent located just outside this floor was a welcome addition to some hungry Brownies.
I am really looking forward to an event in December- pop up cinema with an afternoon tea - with Doris Day in Calamity Jane. Will be taking my mum for a pre-Christmas treat.
There’s so much going on at the Guildhall, you afford to miss out. There’s something for everyone- my daughter and her boyfriend are attending the Horror night with the showing of Friday the 13th - I prefer Doris!!! The Guildhall reflects the love, passion and attention to detail which has been put into this remarkable building - you won’t be disappointed.

I am so lucky to have this beautiful building on my doorstep. A fantastic venue, adding so much to our community. Well worth a visit to learn about Llantrisant’s history. Great events for children and adults alike. I am very much looking forward to attending Christmas events and pop up cinema weekend. The volunteer staff are knowledgeable and do a wonderful job. I love visiting this splendid building, thank you.

I was fortunate to be invited to the grand opening of the Guildhall, earlier this year, and I must say how impressed I was.

The building has been lovingly and sympathetically restored in a Georgian style interior, the displays are well lit, well curated, and well displayed. The building is accessible for all, with knowledgable and friendly volunteers.

If you are interested in local history and happy to be in Llantrisant, you must visit the Guildhall!

A beautiful building that has been lovingly resurrected and restored by a band of dedicated volunteers who have worked unbelievably hard to preserve not only the building (a fantastic achievement and master class in fundraising) but the very essence and history of Llantrisant. There is something for everyone in the building, the children can "meet" Llewellyn the archer, and dress in medieval costume and receive an introduction to life in medieval Wales (and sword fighting). The historian can study the artefacts that have been treasured and valued by generations of Llantrisiants (apologies if there's no such word) . You can visit the bars of the prison cell in the cellar that was uncovered during renovations and discuss medieval law and order with the knowledgeable volunteers, and see the silver mace that is even older than the one in the houses of Parliament in Westminster. A band of dedicated citizens of the town have gifted a slice of history to Llantrisant and created a venue that will host a multitude of talks, evenings, dinners and celebrations for more centuries to come. A community venture that is an inspiration to us all. I enjoyed dreaming of the past within its walls and can't wait to return. Catrin Collier
