The Discovery Centre is a world-class ecotourism facility nestled in the heart of the world’s oldest tropical rainforest. As the #1 Attraction in the Daintree it provides a wonderful introduction to this iconic world heritage destination. The spectacular Canopy Tower and Aerial Walkway allow visitors to explore every level of the forest and Audio Guides in 6 languages are a hit with overseas visitors. But it is it’s innovative Carbon Offset Project that is attracting attention! Part of every entry fees goes towards ‘saving the planet’ via its bio-sequestration scheme. The Discovery Centre is sustainable ecotourism at its best!

You have to cross over to the Daintree forest by ferry for this attraction / to visit the Daintree forest ($25 return). The Discovery Centre is close to the ferry. Cost $78 for a family - definitely worth the money. Audio aids and booklets good. You view the forest from mid, floor and sky level with a skyviewing deck. Our... More

We visited the centre as a family with a 6 year old little boy. The staff was very kind and helpful. The boardwalks are excellent and well supported by the audioguide, we learnt a lot about the forest, the trees and the animals living there. The tower allows access to the canopy. We came back by the "tucker walk" where... More

Thanks for the review, our staff are all very passionate about the rainforest and we are glad they could help with identification as some rainforest fruits are highly toxic! The Centre is a great place to start your Daintree adventure and the information you got would have helped on the National Park walks too. We really appreciate your visit and... More

We spent best part of an afternoon here and it is informative, interesting & well done. Lots of birds and plants. Amazing fig tree. Note if you're arriving at lunch hopeful to eat (as we did) the cafe has very limited lunch options. A few ready made sandwiches and cakes with coffee/juice/water and stick ice creams is their limit. And... More

Hello! Thanks for the detailed review and great rating. We are so happy you enjoyed our amazing Strangler Fig that is somewhere between 500-600 years old! We are delighted to have been able to help with your son's dietary requirements and excited that your whole family had a great day out exploring the Centre and Cape Tribulation. We do hope... More

The discovery centre is well worth a visit. The personal guide book and sound guide are a fantastic way to take the rainforest in at your own pace. There was no chance I was going to get my wife off the beaten track to show her the true rainforest so the discovery centre was a great 2nd choice. We did... More

What a simply brilliant review! Haha.. how hilarious you kept the Baby Cassowary to yourself :) You are right! The Centre is a great place to explore the rainforest with ease and comfort, without damaging the fragile root systems, by trekking through the Jungle. So delighted to hear you enjoyed the Guide book and audio tours That allowed you to... More

We drove from Cairns and always love the drive along the coast. Simply stunning scenery with nice lookouts along the way. The ferry price to get to the Daintree was a surprise. $25 for a return trip and the wait during the peak times was quite long. (up to 40 minutes each way). A short drive after the ferry, we... We visited with 2 boys 6 and 9 and they loved this (almost)as much as we did. Just as we were coming in, we saw a family of cassowaries (Mum, Dad and chick) walking down the creek bed below the raised walkway - incredibly blessed to see such rare birds up close. The rest of the experience was also well... More

Thanks for the review Eliza. Sounds like you had a great experience here at the Centre, it is very unusual to see the male and female cassowaries together with a chick, very special. The children's audio is a great way to keep the young ones occupied so parents can enjoy the rainforest at their own pace and we are glad... More

After exploring countless rain forests in SE Asia .. I thought we were close to being "rainforest-ed out" .. in terms of learning, however, we were wrong. My 13yo & I discovered even more, with the interactivity of self-guided tours. Highly recommend.

As newcomers to the rainforest we found this an amazing place to visit. It was interesting and informative and gave me the confidence to go on independent rainforest walks. The staff were very helpful and happy to identify wildlife on photos taken elsewhere. I now know what sort of python we met near Barron falls!
