Great place to learn about culture of people living there 7000 years ago. Fantastic rock carvings - take a brochure from the museum building as not all carvings, especially ones not painted are difficult to spot. Take both - longer and shorter trails to fully...More

A pleasant walk to the rock carvings. The museum exhibit is excellent. We learned about the archeological history and findings in Alta, watched a recorded northern lights show and appreciate the wild life in the area. Take time to visit when in Alta.

The ancient rock carvings on the shore near Alta are spectacular and well worth a visit. Given the heritage status we were quite surprised to see the carvings were painted to make them stand out for visitors.
