Researched the most beautiful lakes in Austria and Plansee appeared on numerous occasions... And it really is lovely, thanks to some beautiful backdrops to it. Well worth a visit and a lovely drive to get to it.

It is a large (especially long) lake with on one side a main road next to the water and on the other side forest and mountains only accessible by foot or bike.
Along the main road there a spots to stop and relax alongside the water, even a small beach. The water is clear but quite cold. There are also motorboats on the lake (some) and a ferry. Further especially swimmers, small sail boats and peddle boards.
It is a beautiful lake with a nice view on the mountains but for sure not one of our favourites in Austria or Tirol.

Amazing lake. The drive was beautiful and had a great hike around the lake with my family. Accessible for small children as well and a very clean overall.

Better when seen from above, so walk to some of the ends of the lake and hike up to see the curves on it, as any instagram post will show you.

Fantastic for taking a hike along or jumping in and going swimming. Paddle boards are also available nearby.
If you're feeling adventurous, there's a 5 meter bridge located between the Plansee and Heiterwanger See that's a popular spot for jumping into the lake.

During a recent trip to Europe with friends we drove between Garmisch Germany and Ulm Germany. The route we took led us right by Lake Plansee and the Lake ended up being one of my favorite views of our entire trip. The lake sits at the base of several mountains and is crystal clear. The day of our drive the sun was shining brightly and the reflection off the water was absolutely incredible. In fact, we have pictures that look like postcards and I plan to have a canvas made with one of my favorites. There is a park on the Lake where we would have had a picnic had we know in advance that we were going to enjoy the views so much. The road to Lake Plansee is curvy but the views of the mountains and the water make it well worth it.

Alpine lakes are always awesome. This one has a fjord like shape and the best way to enjoy the magnificent views is its cruise!

It was really beautiful and peaceful. You can swim and chill and just admire that blue color... The mountains surrounding it made it even more beautiful.

Wir fahren mit einem Bus und möchten eine Rast am plansee einlegen. Gibt es parkplätze mit Bänken. Es sind hauptsächlich ältere Leute.

Ein freier Rastplatz ist mir nicht bekannt. Ich glaube nicht, dass es das gibt.
An den Gastronomiebetrieben sind aber explizit Parkplätze für Busse ausgewiesen. Dort gibt es natürlich Sitzgelegenheiten im Restaurant, aber auch nahe daran gelegen am See.
