located directly at the entrance of Sonderburg harbour it is a place worth to visit at any time of the year, inside and outside...just remember Shakespear's "Hamlet" that plays just there...

We visited this museum expecting a quick walk round and ended up spending two hours! We would have spent longer but wanted to go to The Dybbol over the water. The castle has a rich history and as well as good background to the events of 1864 the exhibition gives great insights into the time in southern Jutland leading up... More

My family & I took A day trip whilst in Germany to Denmark. We visited a Castle in Sonderborg. The castle has had a couple of rebuilds over the years and is in good condition. There are numerous rooms on different levels with artifacts from different eras, and laid out as a museum. Very interesting, my only negative would be... More

A nice museum about the history of Sønderborg, and the battle that has been fought. With a lot of paintings and information about the history, also in English and German.

Old fortress castle with great view over the bay. Look for the falcon nest on the wall. Beautiful birds.

Given the circumstances and the thing that it was burnt twice (I think), then is still a nice and important building in the city. But it just doesn't give me the feeling of a castle. And for a small city, the museum inside is also ok. Nothing impressive but worth checking it, because you will anyway pass by for many... More

We enjoyed viewing the building and discovering the history. Some great views from the castle windows. Well worth a visit.

We decided to visit Sonderborg for a day (we're staying at Aabenraa) and it was definitely worth it. The slot is a lovely place to spend a few hours, including the fantastic gardens surrounding it. Interesting exhibition and we didn't mind that not everything was in English. There were a lot of visual information pieces of which you can make... More
