Great for long walks! You can see the beach and the forest. Hiking is a bit tiring because of the humidity but try to stay hydrated. We walked for 9 km from Horuphav to Sonderderborg and it was absolutely tiring but fun.

The old gendarmsti is 74 km long, and you kan walk from Alsen to the danish/ german border and enjoy the beautifull danish beaches and forrest areas. The beautifull nature is always changing colours and life. It starts in Høruphav and ends in Padborg

We were hiking this path and enjoyed it very much. Starting at Flensburg, we walked our way easily across the danish boarder. The walk is well described all over the walk. There are many small accomodations and few hotels on the way. You should plan...More

Do like the locals: Walk/hike all or parts of this historic and absolutely beautifully situated "boarder control-line". Shelters (free, remember sleeping gear and food) and upscale hotels are placed along the way. Memorable.

I hiked the "Gendarmstien" from Soenderborg to Gammelgab a distance of 23 km. It is a faily easy hike where you will see beaches, historical points, forest and fields. Small camp sites are available during your trip if you want.
