We stopped on the way out of town to see this and it was well worth the detour. A complete Roman Circus, damaged a bit by a road being driven through one end a century ago but all the oval, the gates and the central...More

They give you a good taste for the size and layout of the Roman Circus although not much of the stands has been excavated. Still worth a quick look.

It's been about 12 years since I saw the Circus Maximus in Rome so I may be mistaken but from what I remember this is as large as that and more defined. It's quite impressive and we'll worth visiting. You do need to climb onto...More

Must have a look at this, better than F1 Small charge to get in. Merida is the place to go for Roman things also a nice town. Plenty of Hotels, remember the remains are a bit out of the centre.

Its a bit of a walk from downtown but definitely worth it. It is not preserved very well, but the breadth of the Roman circus (which was used for chariot races) is obvious.

There is a single ticket that you can buy and that covers: the Roman theater, the circus, the alcabaza and the Moorish quarter. Any of theses places is worth visiting. The Roman circus and its size shows us the importance of Lusitania and Merida in...More

Neat to see and glad I did, but if pressed for time it wouldn't have been at the top of my list. While obviously very impressive it has no held up as well as the amphitheater so if you could only go to one I'd...More
