Valkenburg is a lovely place especially with the Xmas markets in the caves and there is plenty of places to eat and drink. We stayed at the Hotel LeTo we have for many years and it is very central with parking.

Just visited the Christmas markets in both sets of caves, first time I have paid to get into a Christmas market and it will be the last. Don't waste your time or money here it has no atmosphere other than lots of lit trees and the tat for sale in both caves is the same. Very disappointed considering we came... More

This is the best Christmas market I have visited. It is unusual in that it is in a cave and has added atmosphere also the choice of stalls and goods to buy are more varied and seem better quality. The price of 7euros is well worth it. There are only a couple of places to eat and drink so it... More

This was our first christmas market for this season, and it indeed gave a very delightful start. There were a few hiccups in the journey from brussels to valkenburg, as there are no direct trains linking the 2-places. On reaching Valkenburg, the first thing that met our eyes was the 'fairy tale' like atmosphere. On the walk from the station... More

Visited on a Saturday. We did not anticipate the line. We waited about 40 minutes to get in. The was no real organization to line people up and only had one entrance and one person scanning tickets. It's a mess to get in but once we were in it didn't feel overcrowded. All kinds of merchandise. From cheap to expensive.... More

Have visited the caves several times over the past 10+ years - always for the Xmas markets. Every year remains as enchanting as the last one although I felt there were less stalls this year? The velvet caves are the best, much more organised in how you navigate through. The other caves sell pretty much the same stuff but keep... More

The location of the markets in the caves was a great location, however you do have to pay to go into each of the markets. The products on sale were not as impressive since we have bent the German Christmas markets the last two years. We were able to do both cave markets within a day.

What a cool location for Christmas markets...in a cave. Kids, the wife and I were totally psyched! Euro24 entry for the family...let's do it! Ugh! This was just a flea market. Vendors trying to pawn Christmas trinkets they have been trying to sell for the last 5 years. Even the toilet was charging 50 cents for its use. Give this... More

The visit of the castle ruin and the Velvet Cave was very interesting. The drawings are very impressive and the history which is been given by the tour guide is entertaining. The tour is about 45 minutes and the tour guide tells the stories in a lively and funny way. It is nice that the entrance ticket is valid for... More
