I still can't forget the beauty of moonland. In between various high peaks, there lies moonland. Bright yellow coloured mountain makes you believe that the nature is the supreme artist.

Unless you really find the art and the history behind the monastery interesting visiting Lamayuru might leaving you wanting more. We took a 3 hour drive from our resort in Leh, just to spend less than 20 min at this monastery.

We visited this place with not much expectations and stayed there in Lamayuru monastery guest house. This land is truly a mirror image of craters as we see in pictures of moon. While in night on full moon day when the light falls on multi shaded mountains it appears as if you are standing between craters of moon!

Unique, out of this world geographical landscape. Was there at beginning of winter and after it snowed, the landscape was totally changed as well. Also situated in the town was the oldest monastery in Lakakh, Lamayuru Monastery that is worth a visit.

The people of this place are really very down to earth and the monestarty is amazing. Also the view from the village is amazing. It has lots of patches that are called as moonland and it looks like as if you are standing on moonland. We visited this place in winter and witnessed a frozen waterfall just at the outskirt... Lamayuru is located about 120 kms from Leh and most of the stretch is over the beautiful Leh Kargil highway. Nothing much to do in Lamayuru itself apart from visiting a monastery and seeing an attraction called moonland which comes 2-3 kms before Lamayuru. Moonland is called so because the mountains are textured in such a manner that they would... More

Lamayuru is a nice quiet place. You can spend a night here. The view of Lamayuru from the Lamayuru Monastery is quite beautiful. I did not find the moonland to be spectacular. It is interesting to see hills with a golden colour. and quite beautiful. Ladakh has many hills with different colours which make it quite interesting.

I must say that if you have not been to lamayuru than you have not been to Leh. But if you are lucky enough to visit than please please go to temple above the moutain. Amazing blissfull experience. It was exhausting route but after climbing that 3 KMs you would never regret the place.

LAMAYURU is the MOST ATTRACTIVE AND BEAUTIFUL place on the way to LEH from Kargil. GOMPA( Buddhist temple and gigantic mountains on the way are NOT to be missed.MOONLAND is a spot where we can take photographs.
