Christmas Markets in the castle grounds was a bonus because after you get in the first part and walk around you can then walk across the footbridge to the main castle where you can walk around the inner square which was a bit crowded but...More

A beautiful lake surrounded by impressive mountains. Highlight to our mind is Traunkirchen, a small village attached to the lake a few miles from Gmunden. The village was built around mount St John which is a prehistoric place of worship dating back to 1500 bc,...More

This lake is ringed on one side by giant mountains that look to be made of pure granite. It's a nice place. Great for pictures.

The Traunsee is not the ideal lake for people loving warm water and sandy beaches. It is the perfect place for people who love clean fresh greenish-clear water and a panorama on the mountain Traunstein to die for. Love it !

A wonderful lake with opportunities to do some serious hiking, Nordic walking, boating, mountain biking, and if you are quite experienced, rock climbing or mountaineering. On the water the lake can be seen from many sides so a boat trip is well worth it.

This is one of the prettiest places in slazburg area. A must visit. One can just chill by the lake, swim in it, walk around it or just find a good spot and enjoy the views.

It's a fantastic place to visit. Walking next to the lake, surrounded by the mountains... For the photographers also a good environment!

Gmunden is quite a cosy town, with the Traunsee as turquoise eye, an intersection of above and below, the might of depths and greatness of the skies... Bird watching, bathing, starting point for Traunstein climbing... It is popular destination. You can also visit Cumberland Wildpark...More

We were lucky enough to know someone with a boat. However there are several boats available to tour the lake. The views are great. On a quiet day it is amazing to see the mountains in their beauty.
