I usually ride track in the uk but my partner lives in Paris and he never tried it before so we decided to do the baptism course since it wasnt too far away and we already had a look around before in the summer. the coaches were excellent teachers and ex European/French national champions as well as this the equipment was top notch I didn't bring my own bike over but the look Al464 bikes were ace I didn't borrow any shoes but they had specialised Spd sl shoes and lazer helmets and had an amazing time, coach even took some snaps for me while I was taking a spin around it.

We came to see 2018 UCI World cup round. This Velodrome is amazing, the architecture is stunning and for engineering heads the internal roof spans have to be seen, over engineered might describe them. The course layout is a modern high wide bank and the riders love it. Even in moderate-cool temperature's it retains heat and stays warm and very fast inside. It is in a fairly remote sparse location so not a lot of restaurants and things to do in the area but the are hotels close by. It is about 1 Km walk from Saint Quentin en Yvelines train station on RER line. Layout inside the Velodrome is good, they could have put some bars and Cafes in for events to make it even better.

We went to do a baptism of the piste. They prove the bike, belt et and shoes, so you only need to wear appropriate shorts and t-shirt. I recommend you bring some cycling gloves. They explain how to ride the piste with the expert cyclist at the lead. Be brave, book and do it you won't be disappointed! Accompanying friends can watch from the stands too.

The building is huge and spacious with lot of free space around it for literally everything right from car-parking to having a quite walk or jogging in the park behind the velodrome or just enjoying the nature sitting in front of the lake at the park behind the velodrome. This place is far away from the city centre but easy to reach by train. Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Train station is less than 10 mins away from the Velodrome and there is a train to paris every hour.

Very impressive building- lots of space and easy parking. The nearby lake is excellent for a warm up or running and lots of parks and space around to enjoy.

We visited for the World Track Championships, having been to five previous Championships within Europe. The building itself is OK, pretty average for a velodrome, leaks to the roof need fixing and still very much a building site outside with lots of development. Its a stiff 20 minute walk from the Station with no onsite parking as yet. My major problem was the food! Very average plastic food, only hot food was via a microwave, nothing healthy on sale, no fruit etc. A rather over exuberant search at the doors by the food police confiscated all food and drink, fruit, snacks, water etc. All deposited in commercial wheely bins, so wasteful. Everything had to be purchased inside. Not good enough for a 6-8 hour day in 30C.

We went for the World Track Cycling Championships: the Velodrome's first major event. Ugly on the outside, though inside it's surprisingly large with a very good atmosphere. We were in the lower tier where it was warm but not as hot as the Lee Valley (Olympic) Velodrome in London - probably because there's no airlock system for the external doors. It was hot enough to cause the zircon to malfunction and leak water onto the track though, causing several embarrassing hold ups to the programme. As a viewing venue then, it's comparable to London if maybe not as pretty (definitely not on the outside). But it's catering - Oh My God. Inside the choice was two varieties of plastic wrapped sandwiches or 3 mediocre filled baguettes, along with *microwaveable* not dogs and burgers. MICROWAVEABLE! The tea was made by heating a cup of water in the microwave til it was tepid then a bag was handed over. "Milk?" After some searching around: "Non" I didn't dare try the coffee. Outside were 2 stalls one selling churros and the other had half decent coffee - can't recall what it's food offer was as we'd disappeared into town to find something edible by then. Are the French really prepared to tolerate this level of catering? I thought this was the Capital of Cuisine? Come on sort yourself out Vélodrome National - have a look at London's Velodrome where we have local suppliers offering artisan coffee and tea, craft ales and home made food using local produce. You're not going to let the Brits show your food up, surely?
