The lake 'Tristacher See' has become a popular spot to cool down on hot summer days for swimmers, SUP paddlers and walkers alike. During the winter the frozen lake is used by ice scathers, all surrounded by stunning landscape

Loved spending time by this fresh water lake in the forest just outside Lienz. It can get busy but there is plenty of room. Umbrellas for hire, a café, diving platforms and a floating pontoon to swim out to. Nice and shallow for little ones. No biting bugs to speak of. Thanks AdventureAustria for recommending this one to us and organising vouchers.

Nice walk from Lienz, through the village of Tristacher. Climb with wonderful panoramic views. The lake, described as crystalline, is a murky green that is not very attractive, either you pay or you can hardly get closer as the most beautiful and comfortable area is a private and fenced beach. Nice walk around.

10 minutes drive from Lienz - we took our 6 year old to this beautiful swimming lake. €2.50 to park and €11 for entry for our family of 3. Spent the full afternoon relaxing on the green lawns and swimming in the fresh water. The place also has toilets, changing facilities and a cafe.
Set your sat nav for the Seewiese campsite to make sure you arrive at the correct side of the lake for the swimming area.

amazing place to take a swim in summer. you can go to the beach and pay the entrance fee or you can pick some other free spot on the lake.

This lake is absolutely beautiful amidst the mountains, very relaxing, walked around in early spring despite that several people on "the beach". Regretted just that the hotel / restaurant was not open yet (understandably though) would have loved to have a meal there.

It was nice to walk around the lake and have a beer in the restaurant. Though during august the lake was really busy and in order to approach the lake shore you had to pay an entrance fee.

Is it possible to swim when it's 12°C outside?

I believe there is no reason not to swim there, I wandered around earlier this year when it was that cold. It's just really no fun to swim in water that cold, but you have access to the lake. The hotel (and restaurant) is closed though.
it's a lovely area also for walking.
