More
One of the most impressive remains of feudalism in Europe and the oldest feudal vestige in Belgium. Its origins go back to the 8th century. It is a key account for the medieval architecture and is famous for the 1st crusade, lead by Godfrey of Bouillon. The Castle was used for military purposes until 1830. From the top of the main tower, you can admire a wonderful view on the Semois river and its meanders. Included in the visit : falconry show and permanent didactic exhibition. Also included : permanent exhibition "Scriptura", the history of writing from the Middel Ages until the XXst century.

Arrived at 1300 and had the castle to ourselves for most of our visit. Didn't bother with an audio tour just followed the numbers - vaguely! This castle has not been National Trustified and is pretty much unmucked about ( the newer additions have gone!)...More

From 1082 that Bouillon Castle is situated in a rocky speer of land within a sharp bent of the Semois river. This castle offers not only a good external view as well as internal. Have visited 3 times during last number of years, and I'm...More

This place is steeped in history, some over 1,000 years old and some more recent. The paper guide book or the audio guide will really help bring this to life and I'd highly recommend them. The paper guide gives you just the right amount of...More

This Fort is a well presented piece of history. I highly recommend buying a booklet which gives detail on each pointed location. There are some tight passageways and a few steps. Worth the visit. :)

The castle is really worth visiting. You can choose to follow a route (with audioguide) or just discover the castle yourself. Great to do with children, but we also enjoyed as adults. But be aware: there are a lot of stairs to climb.

One of the best preserved knight castles in Europe... Great multi language guide.. Parking next to the gate does not spoil the medieval feeling.

We've been to quite a few castles before. Some are nice, but not very old. Others are old but have still people living in them and it feels that way too. But this one is different. It's a real fortress. When you walk in you...More

An amazing castle because it's so vast, offers superb views across the valley and there is a lot to explore. Great for children as there are lots of passages and tunnels. Cheese is still made in the cellars and you can buy it in town....More

Yes, it is worth the stop. Quaint little village. and you can walk around parts of the castle on the outside. The town looks like a postcard. We were also just looking for a place to stop and I was glad we stopped.
