Maspalomas is not my favourite part of Gran Canaria. For me it is too built up and too busy. However, to miss Faro Maspolomas would be a mistake. It is a truly magnificent structure and evocative of what that coast must have been before mass tourism.

The lighthouse is a prominent landmark at the end of the Playa de Maspalomas, is a straight walk down from the ‘Faro’ bus terminus and in close proximity to the upmarket hotels in Meloneras and the accommodation in Maspalomas. There are plenty of low-key eating establishments close by across the roundabout from where you can get a taxi, and more... More

We walked from Playa del Ingles to the lighthouse, but should have taken a taxi for about 5 euros. Unfortunately it was cordoned off for some works, but it was still worth the visit. Good beach, a choice of bars and restaurants and we walked across the dunes to get back to our hotel. Only do that walk if you... More

Walked along the seafront two times from the beach along the bulevard. A busy but relaxing place with people out having fun. If in maspalomas a place you should visit with the sea crashing against the rocks and fine restaurants and good shops.

There are a lot of designer shops and plenty of resturants here. There are a couple of shopping centres and supermarkets too. I am not sure if one could visit the lighthouse. It is an amazing building which has been there more than 100 years. one can certainly walk on the pathways and sit on the benches and seawall to... More

Faro One at the Lighthouse. not to be confused with the Faro Two shopping centre. Beautiful sandy beaches, sun beds and brollies for those who don't mind sunbathing close to other people, bring a towel and plenty of space on the beach itself, wind surfing. Lots of bars and restaurants, plenty of shops and stalls, selling clothes ,and souvenirs. Past... More

This is a large round lighthouse with a large square building attached to it's base. However, this building is cordoned off at the moment so it is not possible to visit the lighthouse and I am told that it will not open again this year. It is not the oldest lighthouse having first operated in 1890. It is still a... More

A lively and pleasant area to visit and spend some time. Lots of tourists because there are a few big hotels near by.
