We booked this spot for our cruise. We had a travel trailer and truck that we wanted to ensure we had parking for. They did not have a designated spot for our parking, even though we had provided length of our trailer and truck. They should reserve spots for these as they mention they can accomodate us. When we arrived, the check in was efficient and said to find a spot anywhere. We eventually found a spot in the convention area. The shuttle does not run very often between the port and parking lot. Will have to wait 20 to 30 minutes for the ride. It may be easier to get the uber once you are parked.

Very clean beach, great for walks or just sitting and watching in peace and quiet. Not much in town at all but recommend the beach area.

I cannot believe people here complain about this amazing beach, and yes, I holidayed in all top spots around the world. But if you want a beach on your door step to ran away from some worries and simply inhale fresh air, no sea salt, sand not that bad either (especially if they were to remove all the water debris now on the sand - which probably is a temporary issue here) then provincial parks are your answer, whether here or Sandbanks etc

The secret is to always arrive during the week, I suspect at the weekend is mayhem (I prefer to be around home than near annoying crowds) and then be prepared with everything as in food/drinks/chaise longues/towels/umbrellas etc. This beach is way bigger than Port Dover or Port Burwell beaches (where you do not pay anything but even during the week could be busy if the weather is very nice) that is why I prefer these types of provincial parks:

- the entrance is 18 CAD/car and then you park it in the area closer to what type of beach you are interested in: 1 and 2 for dogs, 3 and 4 for families, 5 for nudists
- even so, I wish I chose the dog beach, since all (dogs and owners) were very well behaved, as in the family area there were several very large families with music from their countries and very unruly kids, all screaming and making everybody run away from them. We chose to go further away but every single time I was passing near them walking the several km long beach, I had to cover my ears as men kept making comments - how typical, and depressing in this time and age!!!!
- in the parking area there are changing places and tables for those wanting to have a picnic but no food to buy at this moment in time. We arrived before lunchtime as we stopped in Port Burwell and ate at Izzy's - a very good meal with review written here as well
- from the parking area, you walk a few hundreds metres (as shown on Satellite view) through sand and wooden decks to the beach - how thoughtful
- the water was simply amazing: fresh water, in some areas clearer than in others, warmish and reminding me of those Caribbean waters minus the jelly fish or other predators one finds in salt water. No idea if the water can be as clear as the water I came across as Sandbanks. The sand was great in some areas, in some had lots of debris brought by the water.

Compared to many beaches in Europe though, this beach is amazing, I guess some people cannot appreciate how great they have it. I enjoyed there were not many people near us during the week: we have been told that at the weekend it was simply madness and many people had to be turned away, both at restaurants in town and at the park.

Most surely we will be back!

Pleasant enough park with a decent beach, although the amenities leave something to be desired. For the steep $18 admission price to enter the day use area, I expected better. Primitive pit toilets, no handwashing/sanitizer, no running water anywhere (taps did not work), and one side of the charcoal grill at the picnic site could not be used as there was a gaping hole in the bottom.

Port Burwell Provincial Park Review

This wonderful park on the shores of Lake Eire south of Tilsonburg is a beach goers haven. This 2.5km beach is a short distance drive from the campsites with lots of parking. There is a trail that goes from the campgrounds to the beach, but it’s a 3km walk. While you’re at the beach treat yourself to some ice cream at the beach store . There is an excellent hiking trail, Ravine Creek Trail which is over 1 km in length. This path featuring a creek, old growth forest of beech and Maple trees. There is poison ivy to be aware of while walking in this beautiful trail. Difficulty level I put it at moderate.

Tips to remember is that the water pressure is low and the two fill stations are on the right , just after you enter the park. So it will take time to fill up. The hose is long enough to reach to reach the other side of your trailer. The park only lets you have one vehicle per site, but there is plenty of additional parking. The campfire wood is not bad, it burns ok and bugs are not bad. It is a very pet and kid friendly park with a dog beach at P1 , playground, ball diamond, amphitheatre horseshoe pits and picnic shelters.

WATCH OUT FAMILIES! Me and my friend were walking down the beach, when without any warning, and sign, or anything WE ENTER UPON A NUDE BEACH WITHOUT KNOWING IT. Totally unacceptable and thank god we did not have any children with us. Keep your children safe all.

Another beautiful beach on Lake Erie that we visited after long discussion and we were not at all disappointed. Beach area is nice and clean. The washrooms are not the routine ones so we preferred not to use. Lots of parking for beach access, there are five parking lots. From parking lot one needs to walk to beach. Good day spent on shores of Lake Erie. The camping area entrance is separate and one can directly go to beach area. The beach area has entry fee access and it was super calm. It is entirely opposite to Lake Erie that is always super noisy with raised waves.

Loved it and so did our pouch Gracie!!!

But CALL AHEAD to see if the flies are out!!!

We drove 2 hours to get to the beach, set up everything, then the flies came.... decided to go for a walk to the off-leash area. Gracie met a whole lot of friends and had a great time in the water.

2 hours later we went back to our area in the leashed dog area to have lunch and were attacked, and I mean attacked by the flies!! They were all over us, biting like crazy. It was so bad that we decided to leave and head home. (apparently this week was bad because of the heat then rain then heat).

If it weren't for the flies we would have been there all day as planned.

The beach, water, and dogs were great!!

We will definitely be going back but phoning first to find out if the flies are out.

CALL FIRST TO SEE IF THE FLIES ARE AROUND!

We love this park for the private campsites and the excellent dog beach. I see some people complaining about the debris on the beach which I'm sure changes with storms etc.....I personally don't feel the debris is beyond what you would see at a natural beach on any lake. Our family loves that the space allotted to our four legged family members is as large as the one for us humans. We keep coming back here for the beach and the camp sites although I do agree with many that the electrical is far away from where the trailers situated, but not really a huge deal if you are a regular and prepared camper.
