We spent more time on the Island than we had planned because we really enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and the surrounding-even though it was very quiet because there were almost no tourists. Its the perfect spot to relax and enjoy good food with a couple of beers after travelling Sumatra. I'd come back for sure.....

A gem of Sumatra.. A very nice lake that is comparable to Sun moon lake in Taiwan.. Recommend to take boats to visit islands and understand local history.

An hour cruise took us to the lake's center and I was amazed by the historical villages and their history - an outstanding jewel.. enjoyed shopping in their huge bazaar area and eaten lunch using my bare hands.. Rented a bike and strolled the Lake up to the hilltop and the view was... More

If you are flying through Silangit Airport (daytime), choose a windows seat on the right side. You will see a gorgeous aerial view of the Lake and the shore area. From Airport we drove around 30 minutes to Sipinsur, one of Lake Toba sky viewpoints. The view was unreal, very beautiful and grand! The farthest part of the water looks... More
