Rippon Lea is an interesting museum that includes an old country house and a landscape garden. Both have been preserved quite well but the outer parts of the original gardens have been turned into housing area and only the immediate part to the house remains....More

Beautiful gardens and interesting tour of the house. National Trust should be more accommodating about repairs eg tiled "Lincrusta" ceiling (embossed wall covering made from a paste of gelled linseed oil and wood flour spread onto a paper base....it is then rolled between steel rollers).

We had enjoyable spring day at the estate. Wandered through 14 acres of lovely garden which features a large lake, waterfall, fernery, fruit orchard & lookout tower. Suggest to pack picnic lunch as limited menu at cafe. Nice gift shop to buy souvenirs. Fees apply...More
