- Jessica J1 contributionExcellent Experience at Appleton EstateThe tour was amazing. We learned a lot of great information because our tour guide Tiffany was exceptional! She was knowledgeable and funny! Our server Rhadeen(?) was attentive and prompt. He was great with our names and the food was delicious!Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten November 18, 2023
- SpicyKMississauga, Canada4 contributionsAppleton Tour and Rum tasting - great tourIt was a great tour and would recommend it. They explained the process very well and it was very informative. A must do in Jamaica. However, the roads to get to this place was not that great so it's not a smooth travel. It took about approximately 2 hours from Negril. Long trip but still worth it!Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten February 13, 2024
- Amy JWest Yorkshire, United Kingdom10 contributionsGreat TripThis was my second visit here and enjoyed is as though it was the first time. Although, this time I didn’t take part in the rum tasting, which wasn’t a problem at all, the tour was great and our tour guide Rasia is really knowledgeable and lots of fun. We got to taste sugarcane & molasses that are used to make the rum. There was a brief walk around the distillery too, couldn’t spend long in there as the heat is colossal but nonetheless it was great to see. Definitely recommend! :)Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten May 6, 2024

The Joy Spence Appleton Rum experience is a must add to your things to do in Jamaica. For those who have done it in the past ... PLEASE do it again. The facilities have been renovated and it is a world class experience. The journey begins with beautiful smiling associates at the entrance following health and safety protocols to ensure the facilities remain Covid-19 free. Once inside and registered the fun begins. While waiting for our guide we sipped on a specialty crafted adult beverages the Stormy Valley and Rum Pumch, served in logoed cups.... which are keepsake souvenirs 👍. The drinks were delish. The waiting area is beautifully appointed with historical details about the Appleton Estate and it is air conditioned 😀.Our guide was Peter. We took us into a mini theater. The tour begins was a very nicely done video that tells the history of Rum and Jamaica. Very impressive. We toured the grounds at a great pace. Peter was well informed, witty, kind, and engaging with everyone in our group. His passion was so evident as he moved through the facilities interacting and answering the many questions. There was an added bonus. At the end of the walking tour we were guided to a tasting room 🤯. Just when I thought it could.not get any better. We sampled 3 blends of different ages of Appleton rum. Such a great experience!

Appleton runs a slick tour. The premises are modern and functional.
Our tour started (at 10:30 in the morning) with a couple of rum drinks - a punch, and a Stormy Valley, both an excellent way to start the day.
The short walking tour was informative. The last stop was a taste testing of three rum products available in their retail store.
We bought some aged rum as it was less expensive than what we'd pay at home, and the Blue Mountain coffee was the cheapest we paid anywhere.

There are few places to visit in Jamaica. It is worth going to the factory despite the fact that the road from Ochio Rios is long and tough. However, it is worth renting a car with a driver because the quality of the road is nasty. in the Factory for the price of the ticket there is also a welcome or farewell drink. At the end is rum tasting. Factory tour may not be long but it's worth it. we were coming back with a very happy car ride. there is a factory shop next to the factory. it is worth buying not only rum but also souvenirs. have nice straw hats. Rum, especially 12 years old, is excellent.Good prices.

Beautifully maintained grounds and distillery. Tour groups have lunch provided and entry fee paid. Rum tasting as part of the grand finale. Tour guide very informative and answered questions from the group. Fascinating experience. Plan at least 2 hours there and about 3 hours to get there over rough mountain roads. If you bring children there is wildlife on the grounds. We saw a mother peacock with her twin chicks and a male peacock roaming the grass near the buildings. More of an adult experience than children but still interesting parts for them.

Rasia was my tour guide and she was AMAZING. She made us laugh , answered all of our questions and was so cheerful. We got there a little late and not once did she rush us or shortened our experience . We were on the road for 3 and 1/2 hours from Ocho Rios and at the end of our tour we felt like it worth it ! Please check them out and if you can ask for Rasia … she’s amazing !!!!! Asia with a R — we truly appreciate you ! Cheers to those who wish you well .. and the rest .. wellll…

We went to the Appleton estate in January as we needed to get out of our hotel and what a great visit it was.
Firstly we were treated to a rum punch which was lovely then after tasting sugar cane for the first time we went on to the dark molasses tasting yummy. Then on to the large distillery to see the rum being made very interesting.
At the end of the tour you get to taste the three different end products that's a blast as they also throw in a bottle of water yuck but it is only for you to clean your tast buds after each small drop of rum.
All in all a good way to see around Jamaica

The Rum Experience on the grounds of the Appleton Estate is well worth the time if you are into Rum or distillation processes. Facilities are top notch and the tour is interactive. We could taste the raw sugar cane, the pressed cane juice, molasses and finally several variations of Rum. The drive is long and if you get car sick, bring the Dramamine - the tour is worth it. You get to see the Jamaican countryside along the way. They have very nice gift shop on the property and a bar when you first enter for a pre tasting tasting.

A great experience for our party of 4. A welcome rum cocktail on arrival before a tour of the distillery with an excellent host who explained each of the steps in the rum making process.
Once the tour was completed, it was on to the tasting of 3 of the rums made at the distillery. Again our host talked us through each of the rums explaining what flavours we should be getting as we tasted.
A very worthwhile experience.

Hi, trying to decide what cash to take. Any idea how much bottle of rum are on average in JMD or GBP & do they take credit cards? Thanks in advance.
Written January 4, 2020
Hi they do take cards. Depends on blend and size of rum. We paid approximately 19 US DOLLARS for quite a large bottle. Seemed reasonably priced as we bought a few items from the shop.

Can anyone recommend a driver to take a group of up to six from the cruise port in Falmouth to the Appleton Estate? We will be there on December 4.
Written November 24, 2019
Use an authorized tour operator. There will several including but not limited to JUTA Tour and JTL.
Written November 24, 2019
What is the entrance fee when you have your own driver please?
Thanks very much

We will be staying in Negril next month and want to tour your estate. What would be the best way for me to travel there? A taxi, or is there a tour. Do you know if I can combine another tour.
Thank you, Fred
Written January 19, 2019
Not sure if there are tours from Negril. Your best bet would be to ask at your hotel or check a local travel agent. You should be able to hire a Juta taxi as they are more reliable. Again check your hotel or a local travel agent and they should be able to help you.

Can children visit the factory?
Written June 15, 2018
It’s very educational for attentive kids. They also get a chance to taste the cane juice and pure molasses. They can see how rum is made without tasting it. I took my toddler and the tour guide was kind enough to give her some cane to nibble on. (It was great for her teething!)
Written June 16, 2018
I didn’t drink either and they do a tasting of their different rums and the story behind each one which took the longest , for the price and what you see we all thought it wasn’t worth it !
Written April 16, 2018
You were there 2 days ago ?we were told the tour wasn't running now for updating the location.
Written January 12, 2018
When i was there there was one part of the factory where was construction going on. It did not bother the tour. I was there about 2 weeks ago
