It's a challenging 10-mile hike, mostly downhill through rocks and some stairs. It's difficult to get to so you basically have to work with a touring company and it ends up taking the whole day. As long as you're comfortable with these facts go for...More

The gorge starts in an altitude of 1500, but ends at the sea level. The walking is among the trees within the canyon. A very good experience for anyone who loves nature or has an active lifestyle

This was one of the activities on my bucket list for this years trip to Crete. It was a longish hike (16km end to end) but I believe it was worth it just for the changes in scenery and terrain and the wildlife.

I like Crete. Food, sea, atmosphere, hotels. But this is something special. You have to explore Crete here. You can arrive by public bus to the entrance and start your 21 km walking tour. Be careful - the only ship from the other side starts...More

This review will echo pretty much all the others before this. Tips for a better experience .... Go early, we left Chania 6:00am and arrived at Omalos, start of the gorge hike. The reason is to avoid the later day heat. It is not much...More

This was our first trip to Crete, and, for us, a must see. I had initial concerns after reading so many of the reviews on TA. Let me say, unless you have medical issues, you should do this hike! We are both in our late...More

I think younger children might struggle a bit as it is 10 miles and is rarely a flat, easy walk and the first 2km is a steep downhill.. but it depends on the children. If they are positive adventurous children they might... More
