Fun way to spend a cloudy or rainy day!
We went with our 4 yr old on a cloudy day as an alternative to a beach day. He ended up loving it and it was a highlight of the trip. He was able to feed macaws, deer, xolo dogs, spider monkeys, and turtles. He was able to hold a baby snake and pet a baby crocodile, deer, and dogs. It takes about an hour to go through the entire sanctuary and it’s about 30 mins from Cancun’s hotel zone. Would recommend for families with little ones, but don’t forget to bring bug repellent because it is a walk through the jungle and we got some mosquito bites.

    Nice family outing
Nice zoo for a 1-2 hour cool thing to do. Good English by staff. Monkeys were great fun to watch! My husband was offered wheel chair which made things easier with his injury.

    Nice Zoo
To do if children It's a little expensive, but the guide is included. Our guide Ana was very good. She explains very well. Takes 1 hour. There are especially crocodiles that you can touch, as well as snakes and parrots. The children loved it, especially the interactive side.

    A guided animal tour
A fascinating hour learning about the local animal life. Our guide, Sandra, was a biologist who showed us around. We hand-fed the parrots, deer, and turtles. We saw crocs, a coati, hairless dogs, basilisks and margay cats. We held a boa and petted a baby croc. The local spider monkeys swung over our heads. They gave us umbrellas when a tropical shower went over. It was a great way to spend an hour before our flight home! Would go again. Highly recommended. (About $30pp in January 2024.)

    Great place !
Great experience! We were looking for an activity for our 6 and 9 year old that wouldn’t take the whole day. The tour lasted 1.5 and our guide hector who is a biologist was able to give us interesting information about all the animals onsite. Did you know that crocodiles have a 2nd eyelid that they use when they go underwater? Highly recommend this tour!

Good time spent here and some suggestions
2:ND time here. 6 years since last time and it still is very good place to spend some time If the members of the zoo reads this I would like to suggest to use only native Mexican animals! Also to add a new area dedicated to native insects Spiders, ants, praying mantis, scorpions and more.....

It was so neat to check out this facility, they really did a good job with teaching along the way and allowing you to interact with the animals. Feed bag is definitely worth it!

Our original trip got cancelled so we had to think of a plan B. Which was Croco Cun (No offence to you as you were the second option)

The price is a little expensive. However, if you or anyone in your party is into crocodiles it’s worth it.

We were told that you are only allowed to hold the crocodiles 3 times a day. So if you’re unlucky enough to get on a tour where you cannot hold the crocodile or any other animal then I would say you would be slightly disappointed.

However, we were on a guided tour where you could hold the crocodiles, the snakes etc. Feed the deers. It was brilliant and definitely worth the price. I can’t remember the name of our tour guide but she was a lovely female lady who completed the “English speaking” tour.

We walked through the crocodile bit with free ranging crocodiles and the tour guide took fantastic pictures of everyone with the crocodiles, she was brilliant for pictures. It’s a shame this bit isn’t bigger as it was definitely the highlight of the tour. When do you ever get to experience walking through crocodiles?! You definitely don’t in England!

We saw, different variations of crocodiles, turtles, parrots, snakes etc.

Only downside to this tour was the Coati at the zoo looked very distressed in its small enclosure and clearly wanted to be free. I didn’t take a picture of this as I didn’t want it on my camera roll in all honesty as it would remind me of this animal being sad. I would suggest a bigger enclosure and a few friends for this animal. Or to let it be wild and free again as it clearly isn’t happy.

“Coatis are social animals and may form large groups with more than 30 individuals, generally composed of females, cubs and a single dominant male.”

There were Mexican dogs there too. Personally don’t think these belong in a zoo. But that’s just my opinion. We wasn’t told that these guys get to go to a home at night time so I assume they’re just at the zoo full time as there was food & water bowls present and beds.

“Xolos are typically calm, gentle dogs who are very loyal to their families. Xoloitzcuintlis like to play but generally are serene house dogs, frequently comfortable lounging around the house. While they can be reserved around strangers, they're not typically shy or aggressive.”

Also, I think the enclosures for the crocodiles are too small. But they seem happy enough it’s just my observation.

Alongside this, we purchased a food bag for $3 dollars. The price in hindsight cheap. However, please be mindful you are not just buying this for yourself. The keeper keeps your food bag and hands the food to everyone on the tour. I didn’t mind the food being shared out, I’d have still bought it regardless. But it would have been good to know at the start that we would be sharing with the whole group.

All in all I had a really good day.
