Hunab-Ku, Mayan artists in action

Owner was on site, very friendly. Many different art objects from around all of Mexico for sale. We ended up buying several different items.

When you first walk into this tiny town there is a giant mural that cascades down the seemingly never ending cement wall. It is breath taking. And as you walk this town you will see art installations everywhere: murals, graffiti, statues and the local shops. This one houses a lot of the locals who carve etc

We were suggested to take a taxi to PM for the restaurants and the town but were disappointed. Wouldn't do it again, too small not anything we could see to do. Did eat at the Pelicanos and it was very good.

Note that this stretch of shaded shops is NOT the same as the "flea market" also listed here on TA. We came looking for Mayan handicrafts. Unique were woodcarvings, some jewelry, and "jellyfish" lamps. (English-speaking) Gabriel has a space exclusively devoted to wall art made of woven, traditional bark paper. The people here are friendlier and less pushy than those... More

Excellence Riviera Cancun provided a free cab ride to the village of Puerto Morelos to do a two hour shopping and sightseeing walk-around. It was nice to see the work of local artisans and to talk with the people in town. There are crafts people working on site so you can watch the products evolve. There was an amazing sand... More

We have been coming back for the last 4 years to PM and its Artists Coop. This year we have noticed an improvement in the quality of the offering. Vendors are offering quality textiles from Oaxaca, Chiapas, less of the traditional Football team blankets. We also saw beautiful artistic work made from wood based textile. Mauricio, the hamac maker is... More

As nice as our resort is, it basically holds you captive if you have no transportation. Our trip to Puerto Morales was a good stop. Had a great dinner of fresh fish which we were able to choose from those caught fresh that day. Also found a great little boutique with different things in clothing and handmade jewelry and accessories.

This place is much quieter than other destinations. Altho it has the requisite tourist stores, there is still some of the original town to see. The restaurants are not busy, but do serve good food and drinks. Also has a small grocery store.

Kind of disappointing, typical stuff you can get anywhere in Mexico. There were a few unique items but not enough to recommend making a special trip. I didn't feel it was worth giving up my time away from the beautiful resort/beach for. The gift shops in the resort had nicer items.

After reading the reviews here, I was looking forward to shopping here as I always like to bring home native handicrafts from the places I visit. We arrived at 10am and most of the stalls weren't even open. Also most of the items were not unique but what I could have gotten in my hotel gift shop, though at a higher... More
