Big Sur, nothing can capture it's presence other than your own eyes while driving down Hwy1. The expansive coastline with crashing waves, bridges, valleys, forests and mountains. Wildlife, unbelievable. Most trails were easily marked. Plenty of pull off areas for scenic views when on the...More

This park has it all for woods lovers. Easy hiking trails through redwood forests, more difficult ones up to the ridgelines. The trip up to Buzzard's Roost is well worth the climb. Spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and shoreline.

Of all the state parks that you pass along the PCH, I'm not convinced this is the best of them. If you're tight for time, stick with Point Lobos and other coastline parks. Pfeiffer Big Sur is big at 1000 acres, but only a small...More

Due to the Spring 2017 mudslides, the coast highway from Monterey to Big Sur had only just re-opened when we visited in October 2017. Due to a combination of the mudslides, earlier wildfire damage, and the high risk of current wildfires, a number of the...More

Weather shouldn’t be too bad, a light sweater/hoodie should suffice. Sorry I can’t help with the poison oak question.
