Due to the Spring 2017 mudslides, the coast highway from Monterey to Big Sur had only just re-opened when we visited in October 2017. Due to a combination of the mudslides, earlier wildfire damage, and the high risk of current wildfires, a number of the...More

We camped in November and almost missed out on a really fun hike to Buzzard's Roost. Thankfully a passerby told us where the trail head was located otherwise ask the Park Ranger when you enter to find the exact location. It's a good 1.5 hour...More

Such fun and relatively easy hikes to many different beautiful views! You could spend hours in this park and not get to see everything. Pack a lunch and plan to enjoy a breathtaking day in nature!

Definitely worth visiting! Big Sur is incredible! There are a ton of hiking trails but some of the trails are shut due to landslides.

This whole area is a must-see. Every vista is just beautiful. The waves crash along the rocks, there are places where you can hear the sea lions and see them if you have binoculars. The drive is slightly intimidating since there's only a small guardrail...More

We enjoyed the walking trails that were accessible for our 4 year old grandson. The amphitheater adds a nice touch for performances.

No. It is closed at Gorda until the end of the summer. You can only get to Big Sur from the north through Monterey.

Weather shouldn’t be too bad, a light sweater/hoodie should suffice. Sorry I can’t help with the poison oak question.
