Amazing new perspective on the ocean in Big Sur! It took us a little over an hour to drive the 10 miles (but we made quite a few stops to take pictures and stand in wonder of the huge redwoods overgrowing into the road). And seeing the Bixby Bridge in its fulness with the ocean behind it is just awesome!... More

From the Worlds largest green forest to awesome peak views. Breath taking views, the ride up the coast is a don't miss. Big Sur and Highway One Winners. Take the trip that rivals any in view.

Narrow, windy unpaved road through most amazing scenery- redwood forests, mountains, ocean view. Make sure driver- and passengers-have nerves of steel!

Spiritual. Old giants have their own energy to share. Unforgettable peace and tranquility. My second favorite place to be.

Big Sur Is wonderful. It gets in your blood, like no other place on earth. From the crashing waves far below on rocks, to the hikes under the redwood trees, Big Sur is magic! The Old Coast Road follows an old road, that was made before the Highway 1 was built. You get to see a glimpse of the way... More

The art galleries, view and food. A very unique combination. The galleries have a combination of beautiful glass work, woodwork, jewelry, unusual bird houses, pottery, something for everyone!

My wife and daughter along with a couple of our friends and I drove the Old Coast Road on Memorial Day weekend. We took our Toyota 4wd's and had a blast. The road is not technical but is rutted and recommend airing down for a smoother ride. We took our camping equipment (i.e: chairs, table, bar-b-que, cooler) and enjoyed a... More

Came across this by Bixby bridge and decided to try it with a sedan as it appeared to be freshly graded. It was one of the highlights of the area but not for the faint at heart if you are driving a sedan. Lots of spots to pull off and chill, photo ops everywhere and a few sections where you... More

We drove from North to South on Highway 1 through Big Sur, and it was amazing. However, on the trip back north, we decided to take the Old Coastal Route, starting near Molera State Park. It's a dirt road that runs 12 miles, and it took us a little over an hour to do. We had a rental car, Toyota... More

Be ready to turn off Highway 1 onto the Old Coast Road right at Bixby Bridge. Just a short distance down this dirt road offers fabulous bonus views of Bixby Bridge, turn around there or - KEEP GOING! We drove the whole loop and it was a highlight of our trip. The road is rugged in places, a true mountain... More
