    Manage your expectations
Its a nice drive, but only if you make the day or half-day out of the the whole archipelago. For example - start a day in Bud or Molde, progress slowly across the Atlantic Road itself, stop in the visiting center and take a stroll, build a stone tower near the sea, stop in Kristiansund, visit the old German WW2 forts in Bud and Kvalvik - that sort of itinerary. Otherwise it is just a drive, and in terms of Norway not even THAT scenic. It is ok to be in that part of Norway and NOT to take that drive:).

    Pretty drive but underwhelming
OK. It's great to follow the coast. But Norway is full of amazing scenery. I expected a number of iconic bridges, but it was disappointing. The hump bridge is cool, if not a lot smaller than expected. There is a care close by which is very small. The walkway is nice and very easy access. Wouldn't go too far out of my way to visit

Not very enjoyable in the bad weather!
To be honest I was expecting much more but with the exception of the humped back bridge and a couple of other points of interest this was fairly standard stuff. The weather was pretty bad which meant that being out and about on foot near the bridge was not an enjoyable experience. At least that had a small cafe nearby that served lovely cake and coffee!. With that said though the walk around the gantry behind the cafe did provide some interesting views of the landscape.

Driving through on the ocean surface like this, over Storsteinbrua, the bridge that looks like it ends on top going into the sky, was a nice experience. We stopped at Eldhusøya and walked the obligatory stroll on Svevestien that is a soaring path of 550 meters around the island. I guess this experience can be more challenging when the weather forecast is different than that lovely sun that followed us on our trip.

A very cool coastal road in Norway. But also one of the busiest roads that we drove in Norway. It is obviously a tourist attraction, and had gained traction since its appearance in James Bond, however it was much much busier than any other part of Norway that we visited (all up the west coast from Stavanger to Trondheim). It is still very much worth a visit if you are in the area though!

We had a relatively calm day weather wise and took the opportunity to fly the drone. It really is spectacular from above!

This attraction is not located near any famous locations or cities so a visit often requires a hefty detour. Keeping in mind that the attraction is rather underwhelming a visit is only recommended to people in the very neighborhood.

I will definitely not be going back.

Beautiful scenery and is a blast to drive. The road is much, much shorter then we had hoped it to be. Even stopping along way for photo opportunites it doesn't take more than 30-45 minutes.

After visiting Molde we drove to Bud, the southernmost point of this road. Great views and an old WW2 fortress. The first oart of the rosd winds through a beautiful landscape with great lookout points. The last part is spectacular as it finds its way along the oceanfront with some great bridges.

By coming here with a car, unfortunately it will be hard to see and to appreciate the awesomeness of this road. What an amazing place we had visited we found out late by checking drone's pictures. Right after the most photographed bridge there will be a big parking lot (free of charge) with a nice, well-arranged walking path along the shore with a view over the bridge. Worth a visit!

It is only one small part that was worth experiencing, but nonetheless, it was worth the extension to the road-trip to see this bit - all by the bridge of course.

We actually went out of our way on a Norway trip to drive the Atlantic Road. We were inspired because this road is advertized almost like it is one of the seven wonders of the world. In some vote it is supposed to have been chosen as the second most beautiful drive in Norway. But what a huge disappointment it was!
I'm sorry, but all of this hype about the attractiveness of this road must have been invented and blown out of proportions by local tourism agencies.
When you see what road building engineers are accomplishing all over Norway, this approximately 6 kilometer stretch of road West of Kårvåg across some low islands with a few bridges in between, did not exactly blow us away. The drive is pretty. The walking path around one of the islands is nicely designed. There is an interesting photo angle of the tallest bridge, which you will have seen already in all the advertizing. But this is nothing compared to what you can experience by driving on countless other roads in Norway.
To make it appear more impressive, the Atlantic Road is often advertised as being the entire 35-kilometer stretch between Kårvåg and Bud. This however does not make it any more interesting.
Our advice: This is highly overrated. Don't waste time on the Atlantic Road road unless you just happen to be nearby anyway.
